Image Size Restrictions?

I was just curious, is there any chance at all that the admins would consider upping the maximum allowed image size? Looking in the FAQ the reasons for restriction of size are

"It messes up the forum formatting and slows things down for people without high-speed connections."

Now I have no idea about the formatting, but with regards to slowing down connections....I mean its 2016, 13 years after cc started. I just kinda think that most people's internet connections are more than capable of handling larger images. I know it's not a problem on eurobricks or merlins-beard.

I just think it would be nice to allow slightly larger images, because very often the restriction to 400x500 actually means that I am forced to post images as small as 200x300 since many of my images have wonky dimensions like 513x400.

What are the admins' thoughts on this?

I have some issues with this restiction when I want to display pictures.
I randomly get this warning: "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image."

But i respect the max-size restriction (400px).
I upload my pictures on my own server (lego.patatoide.com)
I try both format jpeg / png. I try different softwares and ways to export: Paint, PhotoShop, save-as, save as for web, with/without metadatas...
I disabled adblock, and firefox restrictions...

I say "random" because sometimes it works, most of the times not, on preview, or submit, with the same file/same bbcode.

On my last post I add to the url of my picture an useless GET request "?v=1" which i increment until the submit success.

I've never gotten this message before... until today. I tried several pictures and none worked. These are what I tried in case it matters:
