CCC XIX - Defense of the River Crossing

Rather than using the King’s toll bridge, the people of the forest built their own pathway and footbridge to cross the raging river and bypass the Kings Tollway.

Much the displeasure of the wise guardians of the treasury, the “smugglers path" became popular throughout the Westlands of the realm. When the King's army sent a force to shut down the crossing they were surprised by a vigorous defense. What the King’s men didn’t know, was that a once-uneasy alliance between the Wolfpack and the Forest People had now been secured, and the crossing would not come down….
