The footprint is reasonable, but often a footprint can be misleading. I mean some very large creations have relatively small footprints, and vice versa. To make a reasonable fortress on a footprint this large is going to cost you. I would expect that your castle will require 40,000 or more bricks!! This is certainly out of my league right now.

Good Luck :) .

Thats a large Castle MOC. While your still in contruction phase, perhaps we can see some "construction progress" pics through http://www.brickshelf.com .

Blut'Ader took me a few years to finish (kept running out of bricks, had to purchase more, etc, etc). The area enclosed by walls is the equivalent of 30 32x32 baseplates (5x6).

The village itself is the equivalent of 9 32x32 baseplates (a lot of that is cheating - empty space:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=611185

What you are talking about is 16 x 32 baseplates (192 baseplates). Over a million bricks. Six times the size of Blut'Ader. I am pretty sure that no single person in the lego community is capable of such an enormous project.

My advice is to build small and add on as you go - let it grow on its own as you add buildings, walls, etc ...

My only thought for a creation that big is how are you going to work it?
for instance my table is about six by five baseplates, maybe six by six (I forget right now), and I have trouble reaching the middle. Now lets say you build just the castle at nine by nine, how are you going to say, dust it? are you going to make it sectional? and then the rest of your kingdom.. wow.
Is it going to be on the floor so you can walk around it? is it going to be on a hardwood or concrete floor so you don't break the baseplates?
Just the mechanics alone are staggering.
Still - I wish you luck. Its great to have a goal in life, and you have picked a worthy one.

16*12 baseplates? That's like 4m*3m !!!?!?!!!!
What kinda walls do you intend to build around it? Some sorta CC standard wall?
Of course the easiest for you would be to build standard walls, but it would be cool if you did some kinda "random" wall structures... Just a thought.
But do I get this right? Are you gonna fill in the outer bailey with civil buildings? If so then... wow...

In either way, I hereby encourage you to post pictures of your work-in-progress... That would be awesome! :D

 *Gulps and reads post again just to make sure he heard right*

HOW are you going to get all the bricks needed? Do you have any idea how long it will take to build it? As Legofreak said, were are you going to buidl it? And were oh were are you going to get the ROOM to buidl it. This thing would be a display all in it's self.

Yes, youre kingdom will be big. The castle ALONE will be bigger thatn Freak's whole table.

I am very anxious as to see how you will achieve this.

THe castel its self will be on 9 baseplates total.... then there is the direct surrounding area around. Then the village that is walled in around that. And it will take a good while to complete and i will post pics of my blue prints when i get around to it. Well actually it is gray graphite on grid paper but yea.... I have the space... My house is a good 6000 square feet unfinished and when the basement is finish it will be 10000+ so I have no worries about space. And When done I will put it on display. And My dad always told me.... If your gonna go... go ALL out... You know what I am saying? And I plan on starting with the castle and the direct surrounding areas. and I plan to use the CC standard because then I can take it apart and move it around easier. And I am pushing for a job. And I have no social life so I aint all that worried about money right away........ But I know it will come. So thanks for your imput but I hope to be classified with one of the best..... Bob Carney and I hope every one will speak as highly of me as they do him someday. Well Off to work..... :D

And does anyone know where I can find a graphing program for my computer???

And here I was all proud of my basilica (http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=94831) that takes up 3.5 gray baseplates.

That is going to be some money needed for that project. My castle is 120x120 and I just recently went over how much money I spent on it and it is currently at $3348.27! I couldn't even imagen how much money it would take to do a city of that size that you have planned. I too would love to see it in progress and done. Good luck too you :D

I have been in a chat room with some friends and the are lego fans as well. And they said they will help with the city itself. Or the the stuff inside of the walls. So it wont be a one man job

Whew, that isn't nearly as big as the 81  Baseplates you first announced. A 9 baseplate castle is actually quite managable. Good luck to you on that!

I plan to use the CC standard because then I can take it apart and move it around easier.

I'm not sure if he CC standard is the best way to go here. Considering the size of your MOC, the walls will likely appear too small. I also would suggest that you avoid using these:

Allthough they work in smaller MOCs, when used on a larger MOC, they can look pretty bad. There are plenty of ways to make your MOC modular. You don't need to conform to the CC standard. Again, it is important to reasonably assess the number of bricks you have. Just remember, bigger isn't always better!

Later.
