A bed! A bed! My kingdom for a bed!

Post by SavaTheAggie »

Ok, no, not really. But I do need a bed.

I am looking to fill my barracks, but as I am at work and cannot build, and Brickshelf turned up very little during my lunch break, I am now asking for some quick advice.

Anyone have a good design for a mass-producable bed suitable for a generic soldier? Nothing too rare, like the bundle 1x2 tile from the Gungan patrol set (as I only have 2 of said tile).

I'd really appreciate any ideas.

For a generic bed in a tight spot, I usually use a 2x6 plate with a 1x2 tile for the pillow. 3x6 is even better though, because it's the perfect width for a minifig. If you use a 2x8 and a 1x8, you can put bricks on the ends, and stack them like bunks. It's pretty simple, but I'll try to get a photo in a few minutes.

Here's a rough model of it:

It's nothing great, but it could be easily produced en masse. It would look better in brown, too, I think, but my grey parts were more easily accessible.

Nathan's beds are really well-designed, but in terms of mass-production (the curvy pieces are harder to find than plates), I'd suggest going with porschecm2's ideas -- those are the standard bed designs I've always used.

Hey,

I was pretty happy with this 3-wide design of mine, using tiles to make a patterned blanket:

But the best design I've seen is Ley Ward's:

Note that he has a 2-wide version that would be pretty easy to duplicate in bulk if you have a bunch of log bricks.

I assume that you're aware of this selection, but I figure it can't hurt to bring it up again.

I usually use a 2x6 plate with a log pattern 1x2 brick at either end:

The title you were talking about is used, but you could always substitute a white 1x2 tile instead.

Hi guys!

Beds are amazing! Sadly the people in my town sleep on the floor or in trees. The unlucky ones get to sleep in the outhouses.

Man, I need to build some beds! Even the King dose't have one!

for the soldier I would use the bunk bed idea. Quick and easy.
