I have recently created a triumphal arch out of a bunch of spare bricks I have.
Let me know what you think, don't conceal criticisms!

Triumphal arch
Ahhh... the first MOC I've seen made of enlighten bricks. 
Not bad - nice, solid, simple arch. Nice amount of detail - I like the two smaller archways you made on each side too. It'd be cool to see it as part of a bigger red wall. I like that red crossbow... well, it's interesting anyway, but it's a little odd to see such a wide variety of figs using the gate at once (pirate, castle dude, old army guy) - no big deal though.

Are those really Enlighten bricks or is it just the figs?
Anyway, nice arch. Seems a little thin from the side, but head on it looks good. I like the way you brought out the colunms on the left and right by a stud. On top of the central arch you probably want another row of bricks.

No, these aren't fake bricks, but some of the minfigs are fake, and the shield at the top is. Also, the arch pieces are fake. I don't have any free arch pieces, so I had to use them.

Castles, walls, etc were sometimes painted bright colors. I think it is a rather nice looking arch. It could be the entrance to the inner wall of a city, starting the trade section of the city. I like it, does have a good medieval feel to it.

Thanks!!!I think it is a rather nice looking arch. It could be the entrance to the inner wall of a city, starting the trade section of the city. I like it, does have a good medieval feel to it.
Feedback really does make building rewarding. I intended it to be the gate which separates the inner city form the more slum-like streets of the outer city. Pretty much what you've said.
The inner city entrance is when approaching from the lion shield side (the shield indicates the streets controlled by the royal guards, in fact you can see one in the photo, he is with the big sword and royal shield).

Well, the name is a bit misleading. At first I thought it would be a single arch, like the one in Paris, but then I thought it would betriumphal arch

I don't really have enough resources for landscaping, but eventually I will have a city, and this arch would be in it. But that's not for quite a while.More landscaping, city, wall, or something like that around it would be great as well.

Even if it was all made from non-lego bricks, I don't see how the quality of construction and the disgn be influenced.

"Why not?", I hear asking. Because using such parts doesn't show your skills at finding a solution for a construction problem with LEGO, but you are using the easy way by using a part that doesn't exist. The easy way is the Dark Side :-)

It would only be influenced if you had used elements that are not existant in LEGO. I know there are some elements from clone brands that one would wish would exist from LEGO, too. Plates with studs on both sides and stuff like that. I do have one design enhancement.
The columns on the left and right side, the ones closest to, and in line with, the small trees.
Those columns could use either some more decoration (spears, etc), or to be given a bit more texturing. Maybe dividing in half from top to bottom and inserting a row of 1x1 rounds?
