Question about Avatars

Hey, I have a question that is directed to everyone in general, not just the Admins/Mods.

I found a cool image of a skull at Brickshelf that I want to use as my Avatar, but is it okay if I "pirate" this image for use as my avatar? (at the bottom of the Brickshelf page it says that all images are copyright of their owners)

It seems like most of you guys took your own pictures of your avatars, but I do not have a camera or anything.

Let me know what you think.

That is actually made out of lego. It wouldn't look right if you edited it.

I am asking if it would be right morally and/or legally to use the image for my Avatar. Do you mean that it wouldn't be right morally or that it wouldn't look good visually?

I don't want to edit it, I just want to give the URL of the image right to Avatar Control Panel in my Profile section.

The creator of that pic has had his/her worked profiled here before:

I don't know who this is, but if someone from C-C could identify him/her, then you could ask permission to use it. That's the best approach.

Thanks, Alan. If someone could identify this person, I would appreciate it.

I don't want to be seen as stealing other people's work, so that's why I posted this question first before I used the image. (It never hurts to ask! )

I remembered the Round Table MOC from Lugnet awhile back. The builder's name is Patrick Yrizarry, or Sir Patrick around here. You can find his email on Lugnet. Either type in his name or "Round Table" under the "News" option, instead of the default "Set Reference," and go from there.

(I don't know if it would much appreciated if I just put the email here, so that's what the directions are for.)

Ok, thanks Kanduu, I'll check it out.

Sorry, Scnicker, you are right. I wasn't sure where to post this. Don't feel bad about correcting about where topics go, maybe you'll become a Mod

Hey,

I'll move this over to publishing I guess, as it has to do with image usage. Yes, the image in question is by Y-bros-P, Patrick Yrizarry, or Sir Patrick on our forums. You should not use his image as your avatar without permission. Patrick doesn't post here much, but his brother is Y-bros-K, Nelson Yrizarry, or Sir Nelson, who is a frequent forum reader. You might have better luck finding Patrick by first contacting Nelson.
