well kiddies,

it looks like ozbricks.com has done a complete server wipe and it looks like they are rebuilding it for something.

http://www.ozbricks.com

But as of today my site is nolonger available (until I can find a new host). So I guess this is the end of the ride for a little while, its been fun. I only wish they had given me some sort of notice before doing this... If anyone knows how to contact the owners of ozbricks, please shot me the contact info in a pm. I would really appreciate it.

~ Joey

P.S. I was just getting ready to upload my Galere Map to my site too, heh I guess this was a sign telling me it wasn't ready, which is true I suppose...

:x ARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :x

Dang it. Earlier this year Michael told me that he had renewed the license for another year and was considering what to do with the site. Dang.

Okay, time to start looking for a new hosting solution.

Grumpily,
Bruce

Wow... that is really bad!! Did you all lose your files? I hope you had some back-ups... oh man... so many sites and resources from old members are gone now!? (Andravastia!??!) :(

Wasn't a member earlier on considering opening a new hosting solution similiar to brickshelf...? Maybe instead, we could get him to replace Oz Bricks?

Yup, looks like Andrastavia is gone, too. I don't think Kevin was even semi-actively updating it, he might not even know its gone. We might not see Andrastavia again for a long... long time.

Makes me feel pretty good about moving my site...

Oh man... too bad to hear it pal. Well anyways, until you find a new host, at least you can recheck your map and the other things. :)

Yes, moving your site was definatley a wise idea - I shudder to think of the loss of all that work if it had just been wiped clean... although I'm sure you must have some back-up files, I'm also sure that Kevin Hall either does not or will not be posting them.

Yep, I'm pretty sure he never - or very rarely did anything on his site, which makes me believe it is truley gone... so many times I almost saved the pages to my Hard Drive too! :(

His site was amazing - Ikros and Andrastavia are what led me from my DA... it's really too bad to see it gone...

Hey,

I actually have large chunks of Andrastavia on my computer, as I downloaded several chapters to read off-line a long time ago and never deleted them. Does anyone know if Kevin actually lost his files? I'd be happy to mail these to him. I don't have everything, but it may help.

On another note, I tried to e-mail Michael (owner of Ozbricks), but his e-mail address is also dead.

Hmm... do you think it would be ok to e-mail me these chunks as well? I'm not sure if KH would mind or not, but hope not since the story was published...?

This kind of thing happens a lot in the LEGO Castle Story setting, and to fight off that effect, I was thinking to preserve the stories on my HD, to keep something of a library... it's something of a CW initiative as of today ;-) (http://s13.invisionfree.com/Castle_Worl ... wtopic=103)I'd especially like to preserve Kevin's story - what a great piece of work.

No worries about the original Andrastavia. Kevin and I were good friends before he left the community, and we talked often. Kevin is a graphics designer by trade, so he's used to having back ups. I am certain that he, at the very least, has a full version of his site on his computer, just as I do mine.

However, as you said, there is that issue of him ever putting it back online...

I also happen to have his third chapter on my server, just in a slightly different format. Mainly because, for those of you familiar with my story, it was a cross-over chapter. Ahh.... good times, good times.

This is bad news! And a bummer!

I hope the best for you guys. And I hope everyone has their site saved on their hard drive or on a CD.

Man, Andrastavia and Brick tales bit the dust.
I hope you guys get your sites back online soon.

It would seem that the plot thickens... I had referenced a deeplink in another place, and when updating my links, clicked it for good measure... it worked. It would appear that for now at least, some of the files are still on that server...

Observe:
http://www.ozbricks.com/andrastavia/19tipstech01.html

I was actually able to view his entire site via deeplinks and clicked links... so, while I am unsure of the future, I'd say that if you know deeplinks, you may be able to grab your work (or take a look at others) before it's too late... :)

That is most interesting...on a side note, I was able to access Bricktales:

http://www.ozbricks.com/bricktales/

And LEGOlas' movies:

http://www.ozbricks.com/punx842003/Movies.html

Was this only a temporary glitch?

Yea I found this out a couple hours ago, and while I am relieved to find my site is still up. I think I will take this as a sign to move it anyway "After all" Theres nothing cooler then knowing I will own my domain and site :D .

Oh - Phew! Still, I guess that served as a pretty good lesson - it's all about the backing up... and of course if you have your own site/domain/server... then all the better. :-)

Your map is very cool -
