Exoforce new 2006
The leaked pics have been around for a while, but now there is a new site on lego.com
http://www.lego.com/eng/exoforce/default.asp?bhcp=1
I personally don't like this new theme at all. I hate the manga hair and all that stuff.
And I mean, look at this set
I thought lego had a no guns and war policy.

Licenses? Looking at the bottom of the LEGO page you linked shows no copyright info except LEGO's. I believe this has something to do with the LEGO Racers theme. Look here for example. IIRC, Exo-Force was a racing team, and maybe TLG is just expanding the exsisting theme. Just a theory.

Yeh, I think this is something TLC came up with. Doesn't make it any better though....

Its a Lego made theme. They're expanding upon their Racers and upgrade it from cars to Mechs. Although I do like the parts with the Japanese Kanji on it. I think I can use some of that for my Far East related stuff.
As for the hair pieces.... I think I can use those, especially the blue ones for Celtic warriors. You know the ones who put on the blue "woad" paint and had lime in their hair to make em have that kind of look.

As JPinoy says, this is an original theme, not a license. I'm personally not a huge fan of either anime or mecha (despite -- or maybe because of -- my childhood in Japan), but I think this line has potential. I'm not a customizer, so I'm always happy to see new minifig parts.

Hmm...interesting. I don't hate it, but it isn't really my thing. I am happy that it is LEGO's Own Creation (LOC). Nice to see them doing that...

When I first heard the name it reminded me of Exosquad Toys. They're kind of the same, except instead of created neosapians you have robots as bad guys. I still have a whole box full of Exosquad toys. Been trying to sell them for $80(30 mechs).
The new hair molds are interesting, a little over the top but interesting.
Weird faces, I wonder how they will look next to other Lego faces.
Set 7705's figure reminds me of that main hero from Thundercats.
The mechs should look thicker built and have more pieces. I mean, they look kind of weak looking.
If these sets come out like they're looking now, I probably buy only one of each maybe.

Re: Exoforce new 2006
We'll, no war has certainly never been their policy, as this very site celebrates a theme that is full of swords and spears and all sorts of other weapons. Then you've got SW sets full of lasers etc, pirate cannons, even pistols and rifles in Wild West. The TLC policy has been consistantly no modern warfare (e.g. no tanks, jet fighters, machine guns, etc, no WWII). Some might argue that the Dino Attack line violates the "modern warfare" in that the attack helicopter set is pretty much like the real thing.swordfish wrote: I thought lego had a no guns and war policy.

Hmm, I have an opposite opinion towards this new theme. I've been interested in mechas lately. The hair is sort of neat.
Grated, I've never really been happy with an official LEGO set, these sets look like the ground works for a really great mecha. Mecha pieces can also be used for brick-built beasts.
Anywho, Yay new hair!

Looks like Bionicle meets mecha...
I'll reserve my judgement until I can see better pictures. However...I am not enthused about this manga theme. Hairs might just have some use....or not...
There's really not much to dislike, in my opinion. It's just not a theme I'm interested in. It's like showing a spacer a train set.

HAH! Ah, that's great. I needed a laugh today. Anyone get the feeling that this was designed by the same people who brought us jelly bellys? Look at the hair! Now I really want to see Jayko wearing that three foot baby blue piece. That would inspire some creative captions I'll bet. Maybe the two groups are somehow related.
Hmm... The faces, it looks like, are double sided, giving you the two classic anime expressions.
1) Sulky: aka. trying to look cool- aka. how they look when they aren't fighting robots and...
2) Teeth mode: the outward expression of a heated battle and pretty much the only way to show intensity since all their really doing is sitting on their buts.
It remains to be seen how useful these faces will be.
Now the little robots on the other hand look pretty sweet. I love the way lego has designed their arms and hands. Just like a minifig's only easier to integrate into other creations. Just look at the hand on Red's mech in this set:
http://www.lego.com/eng/exoforce/humans ... umber=7705
They're the little guys arms. TLC thought of it before we did! And if you think that's impressive, think how cool it would look with viking horns doubling for claws.
It also appears that the (little) robot's heads come off and could be replaced with minifig heads. Can't say for sure, but if that is how it works, I'm thinking "New way to build knights"!
The set linked above has to be the best in my humble opinion. You get three little robots and the only two colored hair pieces (Santis and Vladek) which could possibly be natural.
Although, when it comes to hair I believe the green guy will prove the most useful. Can anyone say BUSH?
Anywho- I predict that these will be big sellers, judging by the fact that for some strange reason, kids seem to love anything done in anime. Another example: "Avatar"
As for the story line... According to the comic, they're fighting over control of Sentai mountain. Don't ask me why. I don't know why these robots are so stuck on holding the one piece of real-estate guarded by kung fu mechas. You'd think there'd be plenty of other mountains to build their summer home on.
Then again, they're robots. The ones who really ought to be using their brains are the humans. Let's wiegh the options:
One, move to the valley and let the robots have the stupid room with a view, or...
Two, design and build huge battle mechas and blast the bloody bots off the mountain.
Clearly their brains cells are not proportionate to their huge eyes.
Over all, I think the spacers and mecha builders will end up getting more out of these sets, but you never know. There may come a day when we look back and thank God for the day TLC released Exo-Force.
