KK2 Chess Set Discontinued?

Post by babyjawa »

Well, yesterday I went to lego.com shop and I was going to buy the KK2 chess set. I couldn't find it anywhere! I looked in everyplace the themes, the esclusives, etc. Does anyone know if it has been discontinused or if they are just sold out for a little bit? If you do please say something. I am hoping that it isn't done because I can't order it off of ebay or bricklink. It costs way more on each of those. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe it is now discontinued. The next time I talk to Steve Witt, I will ask him to look into this and get a definite answer for us.

Well, over here in the UK, it's backordered until April 21st, which could mean that more are currently in production. But that's just a guess...

According to ITD (Lego's group for Independent Toy Dealers), they were going to run the 8000+ backorders and that would be it.

This is correct. The Westfield Mall on Michigan Ave had 7 or 8 when I was there on Saturday. I bought one to have an extra and get the different board version. I believe people can call the LEGO stores and have items shipped to them for an extra fee plus shipping.

For those in Oregon or Washington the Portland area store (it's actually in Tigerd I think) had some when my Mom and bro went there about 2 weeks ago, they might have some too. I wan't a big fan of the set anyways, but how far TLG has them backordered I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to discontinue them in order to be able to catch up with the orders. Who knew it would sell this well? I think it's one of the most popular sets lately.

I was just there last weekend and they had a bunch. I didn't buy any as I was getting the Viking Fortress, but there was a lot. And, you are right, the store is in Tigard at the Mall.

I believe Sava has already made a thread about this...

Anyway, I'm with you on this. It was nice to have all those shadow knights in one package, plus those Vladeks were awfully nice. Here's to the continuation!

It was available the last few days. Looks like we drained TLC's warehouse again!
