This was my first Forestmen set when I was a kid, and I absolutely loved it. The best tree house I had ever seen!
I had so much fun playing with this set, I could open it up and put my Forestmen inside to hide them from the Black Falcons on patrol.
Looking back at it now I can really appreciate the design of it, the hollow tree with the little bay sticking out at the top, the branches and leaves to cover it up, the hole in the bottom of the tree to enter the treehouse, all great looking and excellent in the playability department.

I loved this set. It was where I got my first barrel I think and I still have the target, though it's faded . Looking at this and hearing the reactions makes me want to see this set re-done in some form with the new colors and pieces. It would look great a 2nd time around.

I got this when it had first come out. I loved this set and thing as has been said before the design was nice looking as well as fun to play with. I agree one more forestman would have made this set a 10 out of 10 or more. Other than that it was a great example of why I loved the classic sets so much.

This was a very creative item for the classic forestman faction. I remember liking everything about the set, despite the fact that I was never an incredibly big fan of the forestmen. The hinge system, target practicing, and tree-like design all add up to make the design rather appealing. I even enjoyed the usage of a blue roof (while it does not make much sense for a blue roof to be used by the faction which hides out in their forest homes).Good set, intriguing faction...

I would like to see more sets like these nowadays...

As many other, this was my first forestmen set (I can't even remember when I got it) and I love it.
I think the set design is at least as good as camoflaged outpost, but that's probably because i didn't have the outpost during my childhood (got it now though, so I can compare).

If there is something to complain about in the design it could be the inside - it's empty and that the forestmen cant get upstairs when the tree is closed (but that dosen't have to be unlogical, trees dont come with furnish or ladders and the forestmen mayby prefers to climb the outside of the tree instead of sawing a hole).

The possibility to open the tree also makes it easy to add a MOC-part whit a ladder without changing anything in the build:

The Forestmen line was easily my favorite classic Castle line, and while I didn't have this particular set, I do remember seeing it on the shelves and thinking, "Wow, that's cool!" However, as has been noted, the 6 figs of 6066 could not be denied, and that was the one I ended up asking for.

A good, solid classic set with some great parts and a nice build. Thanks for bringing back some warm Castle memories!

This set was the first I bought recently when getting out of my dark age, I was lucky to get it for 6€ off eBay (plus 8 for shipping), and saw the next one rise up to 25€ (only 5.30 for shipping this time).
I remember having dreamt so much about this, and 6042, while the only Castle stuff I had was 6016 and 6017.

Now I have it, I find it is nice, but too little, and a floor under the blue roof would have been welcome.

I don't agree with those preferring the camouflaged outpost, since I thnik its back stone construction is not smooth enough to look natural. Also, I don't think having many Robin-Hood looking forestmen is good, when you have an army of them, you don't know wich one is Robin Hood. Getting three robins and three peasants in the camouflaged outpost would have been way nicer than getting six clones (I agree, not exact clones, since they have different colors).

Rerelease would be fine, but revamped, with dark green intstead of blue roof, or perhaps dark blue to simulate slate, mixed dark and normal green vine/foliage, and one half more than on the original. Of course, brown tree parts, but for the color of the stone, perhaps is nice in grey, or making the construction wooden, in another brown than the tree and black could be nice. One additionnal forestmen, little more peasant-looking would add interrest too.

I picked up this set a few years ago at a yard sale, of all things, with the box unopened.

The only complaints I have are the shortage of figures and the fact that the interior wasn't really detailed. It had rooms, but there really wasn't anything in them. It's also kind of redundant with the Camouflaged Outpost, which was basically the same concept on a larger scale.

On the plus side, you got some great accessories-- two shields (which I recall being hard to find back then), an archery target, the "alternate" Forestman torso, and white plumes. The set also had a good figure-to-weapons ratio. It also had a very high playability, what with the 360-degree construction and hinges.

I just like the simplicity of this set as well as the minifigures.

Unfortunately, I didn't even exist when this set came out, but from what I see, it would have been fun to own!

I got this when I was little... my first and only forestmen set (so far anyway). It was one of my most favorite sets! I loved how the hideout was built into a tree, and I loved the hollow tree entrance!! So cool! I really have no negatives about it. I think two figures was a good number considering the size of the hideout... I don't think three would fit inside. And the blue roof never bothered me...

this is a great set, love the way its made I own it 3 times I have them for my forestmen scenerio in the castle scenerio.
