I've actually had this MOC sitting around for ages – about as long as I've been away, which is undoubtably part of why I haven't been here. The point is that I finally got around to taking pictures of it last week, and although I got most of the dust, there's still some here and there that I managed to overlook.
Fire Knights' Fortress
Galleries: Outside :: Inside
No story to go with it this this time – I decided on Fire Knights due to the abundance of fire on the MOC, in the form of flames and a cauldron of hot coals.
The whole MOC was born from the gates, which were based on the wing ... holder-things from Jango Fett's Slave I. In fact, the two slopes framing it are taken exactly therefrom. Which inspired the solid black construction.
The two towers and one walkway come off to reveal the interior, which has a few fun features – the kitchen, with barrels of wheat and fruit, a bird, a frying pan, and two knives.
On the wooden roof, I used the sliding-rail-type plates to fill in the gap, which resulted in one hole, under which I put a puddle.
A wall of trophies of battle, apparently from Gryffindor ... The twin armories ...
And my personal favorite, a hidden door behind the barrels in the kitchen, which leads to the treasure chamber, situated in a cave in the mountainside. (The jail was also carved out of the mountain. Sorry, no prisoner ...)
And ... there you have it. My first full (sort of) castle. Note that it was built before I had Vladek's Dark Fortress, so I have considerably more black castle elements now.

What's the point of having a cake if you're not going to eat it?

THis is a great MOC! I like all of the detail you put into it, and the fig choice is outstanding. I like the secret door back to the treasure chamber.

Although it's not huge, it has a lot of neat little details to look at - I liked the doorway idea the best, as well as the way you had the treasure built into a cave in the back of the castle... I have to wonder... do they all know about it?
Also interesting how you mixed the KK2 scorpians with LEGO's previous baddie faction, the Fright Knights, to make this new faction. I'd say the overall look is good - makes the scorpians seem less crazy-evil and the Fright-nights seem a little more evil (hmm... I hope that made sense).

I'm acually much more impressed by MOCs of size which could be produced as a sets (well, almost ), than the big ones which are made of tones of bricks...
So, this one would be definitly of that kind...
I like it's plain back side, it could be easy connected to some hill, and that treasure cave is a really nice touch...
And yes, this faction is really appealed to my eyes (as I really enjoyed FKs when I was a lil'one)... nice point ottoatm: ...the scorpians seem less crazy-evil and the Fright-nights seem a little more evil...
I like the way you used FRF designed doors with handles...
Nice work, Snap Dracone

I like this. It has a lot of neat details, and I like the way the mountain rises out of the courtyard. This seems to me like it would be situated in China or thereabouts, for some reason. It has a kind of misty, foresty feel to it, even though there's barely any greenery. This shot is an example of what I mean. It just seems...otherworldly. Like ottoatm said, nice faction. Maybe you could use the shields from this set for them, or put the stickers on grey shields.

Great MOC, Snap! Usually I don't like castles done in black, as the details tend to disappear in pics. However, yours has turned very nice. I like the door a lot and you have a lot of cool details in there.

This is a really neat MOC Snap, I too like the hidden door. Does the catapult work well, or is it just a place holder?
