That is Ed Boxer's Magnificent Castle. The links you provided are actually from his site, which can be found here.

Yup, yup, definitely one of those classic MOCs. I haven't looked at this in years...

Hey,

Ed Boxer's creations are truly amazing. What makes them even more impressive is that these were built in the mid-90's, when the on-line AFOL community was really just coming into it's own, so there was much less out there to inspire, it was much harder to get pieces, etc.

Ahh, Ed Boxer's masterpiece. I remember wasting time in the university library, poring over his pictures rather than studying.

The white walls + red roofs give it a very whimsical appearance. I like!

Most buildings were painted - from castles to churches to monuments. A white castle is not far-fetched in the least, whether it be a simple white wash to a plaster or marble facade (or built of marble entirely). The pyramids of Egypt were originally covered in white marble and painted with hyroglyphs. Kinda like an ancient billboard.

In any case, I don't think his castle is called anything more than 'Ed Boxer's LEGO Castle'. As it says on his website, his castle was the very first, and quite possibly the creative impetus of, the Lugnet Cool Site of the Week.

This has always been my favorite MOC castle, and as much as I'd studied and gawked, I still can't quite get a handle on the floorplan.

A young pup (in the AFOL community) like you probably doesn't realize it, but Ed Boxer's castle there is one of the truely classic MOCs out there. It really paved the way for today's huge AFOL community, particularly with regards to its scope, and the inspiration it provided- not least being the above-mentioned Anthony Sava. Most of us would kill to have such a high profile in the collective nostalgia of the community.

Please be careful, that could very well be construed as offensive.

This is great! I like the idea of white walls (although I am never ever going to have enough white bricks to do that.) This MOC does have a real Classic feel to it :D . I have often wanted to go back and look at old post and mocs, but there was never enough time...

This and his red castle are indeed the forerunners of our humble CC.C today. 10 years ago, if you'd searched for (was google around then?) LEGO castle this and I think Dan Siskind's stuff would come up.

I agree with you Anthony, I can't quite make out the plan either. What ever has happend to Ed Boxer? I think Boxer was a psuedonym since he boxed as well. Have we as a community heard from him lately?

His real name is/was Ed Jones, at least according to Lugnet. I did a search and he hasn't posted on Lugnet for four years. So...I assume he isn't active in the community anymore. Too bad, because he is definitely a community legend.

Josh

PS. The official name is "Ed Boxer's Lego Castle" according to his website.

When I first had internet access (1999) and saw this for the first time, I was compelled to make bigger Castle.

It was Ed, and then Carney who drove me into Lego Castle madness!
