Lego's best castle set ever!

Post by Prince Imdol »

Wow, I love the old castle sets. What happend to all of the good things like black falcon and Black knights. Take a look at this picture. It is of set 6080.
It is a black falcon castle. Its not too wall skimpy and it looks like a castle. The weapons and men are not too little. I love the set and will offer to pay a lot for it. http://www.chem.sunysb.edu/msl/lego/castle/6080.jpg]
Here is another one of my favorites. It is the yellow castle set.

Tell what you think there best castle set ever was. Or best castle set's.

I think the 1995 is the best since it has enough horses, enough knights, a ghost + skeleton, it looks right (for lego) 2 entrances... yeah, i really like it. im talking about 6090 set:

It is a black falcon castle.
I hate to correct you, but that is not a Black Falcon castle. Its generally considered a Crusader castle.

The old castles are great, but I'm partial to 6090and 6091. (Click for pics)

The design of the later castles were awesome. The pinnacles and variety of minifig parts were great.

Isn't there a poll about the best castle set? If not, I'm quite surprised there isn't and probably one should be made...

Actually there was a poll made by one of our members for the best castle. But it was flawed and did not include castles like 6080 King's Castle. I also had a few threads on "which sets we would like as legends" in the past. Of course that is a moot point now that Legends were cancelled.

A new poll could be started, but it should include all castles made. With over 300 castle sets, multiple polls would be needed for the different types of sets (ie: best cart, best wall/tower, best castle, best joust, etc).

Well I just think the admins should rework the forum to allow polls of 300+ options...

Actually, I was just thinking of a poll, that listed the "major" castles. 6073, 6074, 6079, 6080, 6081, 6082, 6085, 6086, 6090, 6097, 6098.

Or maybe we could do a progressive poll, that would, in the end, establish once and for all the greatest castle set of all...

Understandable, you were probably still recovering from having to make that first correction ;) /jks

6080 was my first castle (a Christmas gift when I was 25!) - therefore, in my universe, it is the best.

While 375 was the first Lego set I ever played with, and the entire '84 line was the first I owned (and therefore 6080 holds that special place), I'm shocked I haven't heard any love for the 'Blacks'! 6085 Black Monarch's Castle and 6086 Black Knight's Castle rocked! Rounded towers, horse barding, printed banners! Heck, 6086 is so cool that it rocks even WITH the raised baseplate it's built on!
