Yea, these look great, with great nods to the original sets.
I might have to stretch my budget to pick some of these up.

Re: Elves
That does look like a new clam, like 4x4ish in size rather than 2x2ish in size. Cool. Taking a look at the buildings, they do all seem to just be building "flats". Could this series be tied in with that new real brick/computer interface? All of those buildings seem to be "flats"....

Re: Pick-a-Brick
Ok so in an effort to put an end to the debate on what is a better value and what holds more volume, I did an experiment. I will post pictures later. The winner is the large PAB! With liquid measure i filled a large glass pyrex measureing cup with 4 cups colored liquid. I filled the small pab to th...

Re: 6044 King's Carriage vs 7092 Skeleton Prison Carriage
As a fan of the skeletons, I had to vote for 7092. To me it has a better figure selection, the King's Carriage for me really only has three figs as how many kings do I need... Plus I love the skeletal horses...
I'd love to see a reprise of the skeleton army with the new bent skeleton arm...

Re: CC Set Review: 10656 - My First LEGO Princess
This isn't such a dead end set.
Have folks seen the new Juniors line? Two pink buckets and a little flip case with minifigs along the lines of this set. The smaller bucket is a princess set (the other two are more town themed). Of course their are "boy" sets in the juniors line.

Any CC folks who won't be using their visitor passes? I'm not sure if I'll have a chance to break away for a couple hours, but if so, I'd love to stop by and see what you folks have all brought.

Re: Best official sets to play with
Hmm, I don't tend to play with my sets very much...
When I ran Evil Stevie's Pirate Game, that did involve play with all the sets involved (mostly ships, but a few Pirate line structures, and a couple Adventurer's themed sets as focal points of "islands" to raid for treasure).

Re: The hollow part of the castle on large scale build?
My personal aesthetic is to provide for interiors even if I haven't gotten to them yet. I build my buildings in what I call "wedding cake" style (building comes apart in layers - which has been adopted by LEGO for the Cafe Corner module building style) rather than the "Fisher Price Do...

Sadly a March convention is just too close to the recent addition to our family (our daughter arrived Jan 19) for me to attend even a local convention, so sadly, we may have to wait until next year to see what I build in her honor.

Re: How long do you keep your MOCS
Hmm, let's see, my oldest MOC that I still have around is starting to close in on 15 years old. It's a train engine and is one of my very first MOCs (unfortunately I don't seem to have any online pictures of it). My pink castle was started in 2001 I think, maybe 2000. My Wolfpack cutters based on th...

Many of the LEGO Movie sets and lots of Friends.
And we haven't seen the new Castle lineup or various other themes that I'll have interest in.

Re: minifigure dissassembly
If you gently pull the arms away from the torso, they will pop out without much force or breaking. If the hand is broken off flush with the end of the arm, you are probably out of luck without a drill. If there's at least a bit to grab onto, a pair of tweezers would be the tool of choice. I have a c...

Re: What official sets do you build as an advanced FOL?
I enjoy building almost every set I buy. Sure, some don't take me long, but I still enjoy the process. And sometimes I learn something from the set. I also use some sets in my displays, sometimes with some modifications. I should add that these days I do a LOT of my set building sitting in the lobby...
