Nice Ballista. It looks really good and I believe you about the distance. In fact, I just build a rubber band powered catapult that fires about the same distance. However, it is not nearly as pretty as your ballista.

I dealt with it, even though my name's not Houston.
Nice! I am particularly fond of the firing mechanism Just a nit-pick here, but are they LEGO rubberbands? Judging from the range it fires I am guessing they arn't... One suggestion would be to keep everything the same shade of brown. Great work
Looks like a great siege engine. I was hoping to enter the contest, but with a machine that fires at that distance I must admit to being a little put-off. I was hoping to make one in the traditional Roman style with a twisted sinew (rubber band) that would pull it forward. Looks like you got to it first. Still I’ve got a couple more tricks up my sleeve and haven’t given up yet.
God speed

Thanks for the comments everybody! I really appreciate it! But about that double post problem, did I really double post? Because on my computer it only showed up as one post. Sorry for the inconvenience. And DARKspawn, I would keep it the same shade of brown but I don't have the pieces !

I dunno, personally I find mixing the browns up helps to create a look of worn or differently cut pieces of lumber. Anyways well done small simple and mobile. A very useable seige weapon if I do say so myself.
well I would at least like to think that I'm evil...
This is most impressive. You could easily pop this into a battle scene, most of the ballistas that are made don't look pretty enough to do that. Excellent job!
"The sky grows black...shadow falls...the Dark Tide comes..."
This looks very impressive. The wood like structure maintains a very medieval look. The ballista category is already filled with good entries, and with still more than a month to go! Can't wait to see the winner!
That's great that you could get something that size to shoot so far. I also like how you've kept it real-looking. Many times when someone makes a firing catapult, they have to end up making it look goofy in order to build it so that it will shoot far, but you've kept the look good while not sacrificing any of the function. (Unless, of course, it used to shoot 30 feet and then you changed it to make it look better )
