This is what Lego is about! I was too young to appreciate the Forestmen when they were still on shelves, and look what I missed.... A solidly built hideout with "simple" bricks. Foliage, Forestmen, and even black plumes! And of course, a brown horse. Do any of us want any more than that?

This could very well be my favorite castle themed set of all time. Very few sets hold such a high status in my collection. I can still remember the feeling I had when I bought this set at a TRU near Lansing Mich. while on summer vacation in 87' I think (probably 20 years ago to the day). I was really into the Robin Hood mythos thingy and I named each one, telling them apart by changing hat and feather colors. As I type this, I just have to glance to the right to see it built on the floor, although its modified a little. Everyone should have this set, even if you're not a fan of the forestmen.

I loved the ruinous look to this set! There are things I changed to it when I got it, but overall a great set. The fig selection is great, a brown horse, quite decent parts quantity/selection are definitely positives with this set!

I have purchased this set (used) twice each time with the intention of displaying/keeping them complete but the set contains too many useful minifigs and other elements for MOCs. If I had it MISB it would stay that way, and I would consider it art.
The minifig count is good and it is amazing how much diversity is achieved between the minifigs when actually they are all quite similar with only minor differences.
There is nothing in this set I dislike, my problem is because this is my only Forestmen set, I still lack what is for me the elusive archery round target practice tile.
This is one of my all time favourite castle sets and would appear in my nomination of any short list of legendary sets or sets worthy of a remake(with the archery tile next time please).

My faviourite set of all time! Simply the best! Playability, figs galore, useful and bountiful pieces, and a great looking main model (from multiple directions!) What is not to like?
God bless,

An all-time favourite for me, too. I frequently drooled over this in the catalogs as a kid, but never got it. I finally bought it about two years ago in like-new condition, and I just HAD to get all the other Forestmen sets too to complement it...
I love the whole theme for the mixed wood / stone structures and the foliage pieces. The set itself is brilliantly designed IMO, I love the secret entrance behind the rock boulder and the sloping rock face.
The set's fig count is the best in the whole line (6077 has a Crusader, so only 5 FM in that set), it includes many basic bricks and some rare parts.

Great set. Even just that picture of it looks fun. Lots of figures, secret doors, treasure, a horse, and no catapults.
Bright colors, but still looks natural. Looks like a very happy set. Not filled with dark colors, scorpions and undead skeletons, like some of the stuff we've seen lately. We need more sets like this.
10/10

I own this and it is easily in my top 3 lego sets of all time.
This thing is loaded down with minifigs!

The Forestmen sure came in on a high note with this set. The high fig count is great, as well as the brown horse. The set design is impeccable. My only complaint is the use of black instead of brown for the tree, but that's just splitting hairs.

I REALLY want this set. It looks so cool and awesome!!! I love the forestmen theme and this was one of the best sets in it!

I don't think I've ever heard any AFOL say they don't absolutely love this set, and this forum seems no exception. But why should it be? It is simply one of the greatest sets Lego ever released, period.
