Modular Castle

Post by CAI »

Hi

Been awhile since i've posted/built, but still lurking... viewing everyone's mocs. :D

I've started a modular castle with the mind to complete it this time... walls/towers smaller in size so I can finish without exhausting my brick on a couple huge modular structures.

So far the corner wall is finished. A Gatehouse, another wall and a tavern are in the works.

I like it, It would be cool to see a full castle looking like this.
wrap me in a bolt of lightning,
send me on my way still smiling,
maybe that's the way i should go:
straight into the mouth of the unknown....

The detail with the battlements is plain awesome, although, it would be nice if you could put that detail in the rest of the MOC. The walls seem just a bit bare. A little too plain for my tastes.

I like this a lot. In spite of what PI said I don't think the wall looks too plain. I like the simplicity of the inside which for some reason really sets it off for me. Can't wait to see the rest of the pieces.

It's very nice, but the walls do look a bit flat. Perhaps if you stuck some dark gray tiles on brackets in a few places it'd look better.

Nice overall view of this moc. I especially like the mugger who is trying to steal the civilian. I only have one thing to say. The wall does not cover more space. I like thick walls most.

Hey CAI, glad to see you back!

Very nice. The wall does look a little plain at first, but I like it. It's more realistic. The open battlements, however... I'm not too sure about those. ;)

Love the rat catcher, and the thief's costume is great.

Hi,

Yeah, tis a bit flat, and using tiles...good idea, but I lack thoes technic pieces needed for that. I was going to throw a few statues in, but decided i'm going to go for more of an authentic medieval look, rather then fasntasy - but that may change as I continue. I should have another wall done tonight

As for the battlements, open spots for rolling rocks better angles for spears and dumping oil - thats the idea I had anyhow.

cheers.

I can see where Noro wasn't sold on the the little building, likey because of the coloration. It looks to me like a building with red plaster and really light colored would framing.

It could be much worse though.

In regards to the rest of your MOC, I like it a lot. It seems good and solid and you have nicely used arches in several ways and those viking walls, they look good with those other brown 1x1 round bricks makes it look really awesome.

Lookin' really excellent keep it up.

Both of these are great! The stairs, battlement details and fig activity on the first wall give it alot of visual interest. The watchtower and house are nice additions in the second MOC. My only gripe would be the wall thickness. The height is excellent, it just looks like it would be toppled very easily during a seige.

Other than that, great job so far. I look forward to seeing more!

Thankyou,

The main reason for the walls thickness, simply to conserve brick for to complete the castle. By crouding structures close to the inside wall, i'm thinkn the look will work out fine in the end.

I'm going to place any colorful character in this folder:

The tavern is getting near done, heres an in side shot. I placed real candles near for more of an authentic look. The Gleeman is playing to a loud thirsty croud.
