Hey everyone. I was just browsing Brickshelf and came across this(!)

A clone building box?!?! I'm not a SW army builder, but...WOW!

(Although the thought crossed my mind that it could be fake, I was just wondring if anyone knew anything about it.

I too saw this, but then I remembered hearing many months ago about some sort of clone army building event from years ago... Sorry I don't have any links, though. But yeah, it's not fake, but not common.

Yep, it was a promo event that, if I remember correctly, was held by certain Wal*Marts back when Episode II came out.

(EDIT-) Here you go.

that is the ultimate army builder, for clonetrooper minifig collectors. I know it would never happen, but it would be amazing if they did something like that with Crown knights. But I can only dream.

I sounds kind of strange to me actually. How many you could put together without looking in the box? I bet they had an age limit as well so us older builders would be out anyways. Would be fun to do as a kid though!

Cool idea though, any free men are free men. Lego used to be much more into promo's then they are now. Wish they'd do more of them

I saw one on ebay about 2 years ago, it sold for around $250..I didn't bid because I thought that was expensive, but right now the value of this thing almost tripled!

I'm surprised it's gone up that much. At the time of this event, clonies were really hard to get as they were only available in the Gunship, a $90 set. So there was quite a bit of resentment on the boards over the few of these event boxes that found there way to e-bay and went for exorbitant prices. Now clonies are pretty easy to get with things like the battle pack, so I would have thought these wouldn't be as interesting to anyone except collectors of odd items. Looking at Bricklink, I do see that there are different versions of the clonies. I hadn't realized that since I never made an effort to collect the prequel sets. I would think that would be less crucial to the more casual builder who just wants to have an army to play with. It's kind of like you may remember how back in the day the OT Stormtrooper was only available in the TIE set. Not a hugely expensive set, but still hard to build up an army. So you'd see people with armies that were 90% scout troopers, since those were available in the much cheaper speeder bike set and also those little 3 fig packs that were briefly available.

Crown knights, Orcs, Dwarves, or any Castle faction for that matter. If LEGO did this it would be COOL. :D But then just think of what that would do to the army sizes of our estimed members here.

There was the AT-TE ($70), a friend of mine bought a couple. I do remeber seeing this set at LEGOland, CA, But for looks only. I didn't ask about it. *Kicks self* I wish I had and gotten some...

A Castle version would be ultimate (Black Falcons!!) but Crownies would be cool.
