Set Changes...

Post by Jacob C. »

Looks like one of the Indy sets has changed:
Set 7625:
OLD Version LINK
NEW Version? LINK 2
They replaced the Soviet troops with some other villains.
Also, they used a crappier looking windshield and the girl has a different torso now. Overall, the set looks A LOT worse. I won't be buying it now, if that is the final version?

These might be the FINAL pics of the 2 other sets:

Actually, I'd venture to guess that the NEW set is more likely to be a prototype than the OLD one. If Marion has a different torso (and I'm not convinced she does) it looks like the same one as from the Temple of Souls set. the NEW soldiers look like they have thistorso, and the windshields are the same except for the NEW one has no printing. Note also that the NEW picture of 7627 doesn't appear to have the two new hairpieces on Mutt and Spalko, and the soldier has a blank sand-green torso.

I think you've got them backwards. :D The 'new' has the old Marian torso. And the guards are just Snape in Durmstrang gear.

I imagine its just a mock-up of the box.

I'm sorry, but...the guy just *looks* old. He stands like an older man. When I see the preview, I see a man doing stunts he's far to frail to do in real life.

The Indy minifig looks as youthful as ever, though :P

Ok, I hope you're right.
Although those durmstang torsos are actually nice! Still, I prefer the green troops. I plan on bricklinking a bunch of those for an army.

What a sweet little jeep design. I particularly like the snot panel pieces around the wheel wells. I'll have to dig out the bricks and try to figure out how they did that. I hope a variant of this shows up on the shelves later on.

LEGO Indy without paying for LEGO Indy? Nice.

I'm sure I'll find a use for that windshield piece. And the whip. :p

I'm surprised by how big the Brickmaster sets are! 20001 is over a hundred pieces. I suppose...LEGO does estimate their value at $6 a set, and the $5 Creator Minis are ~75 pieces...it only makes sense that these are ~100. (This one has fewer pieces for the money, but licensed sets usually do.)

I do love "mini" sets...for probably the same reason I love vignettes and microscale (and micro-sized!) creations. Screw Cafe Corner...Give me 9324 Micro Building any day! (I'm kidding, of course. I want both. Dearly. That's probably the other reason I love small sets: they appeal to my wallet.)

But I'll be honest. I only subscribed to BrickMaster in case there would be an exclusive Castle set. (No Castle, yet, but City, and then Creator, and then this...not bad.)

Back on topic...I love the movies, but I'm not about to rush out and buy any of the Indy sets, which is probably a good thing (I'm broke). I guess it's just that I want to keep my movies movies, and my LEGO LEGO (although this argument breaks down, because I love LEGO HP), or else that there's just too many other LEGO sets I want. The "Lost Tomb" set appeals to me...nice pieces, nice price, everything. But...stickers! STAMPs, even. My OCD wouldn't be able to take it, but maybe I'll give it to a friend - they'd probably roll their eyes, but they at least tolerate my latest addiction, and they're a big ancient Egypt buff...
I collect LEGO themes that start with "C." And Pirates. I call them "Corsairs."

I actually prefer this 'new' version; I'd like to get more Durmstrang torsos.

Oooooh, lukcy BrickMaster people. Though a little jeep and yet another Indy fig isn't really much to miss.

Not so much the jeep, but the dark green...

I finally broke down and renewed my subscription today (Which I've been putting off for a couple of years) after seeing this. And the Creator and fire truck sets don't look half-bad either.

Now I just need to pray for a gobbie set that comes with shields...

Is it worth subscribing just to get the set? Is the magazine itself of any interest to someone who isn't a kid?
