Necromancer's Tower (With more Bone Chair pics!)
Among with the house, this is my first published MOC.
In addition, this was (I think) my first MOC.
I made it about a year ago, originally as Orthanc, and it took two days almost non-stop. It was heavily influenced by Bruce's Orthanc (Sorry for all the similarities, I hope you don't mind). Recently, I decided my necromancer needed a nice place to live, and this made the perfect area.
So, without further talking, I present the Necromancer's Tower.
(I appologize for the bad pictures)
The full pic: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... ncfull.jpg
The bottom area: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... bottom.jpg
The Balcony: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... middle.jpg
The tower part: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... dletop.jpg
The top (I wouldn't want to be up there): http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... anctop.jpg
It also has a removable top, to increase playability for those youngsters who know what a Necromancer is. So here's the inside, featuring a bone chair: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=732030
And, of course, once it's public, you may view the whole folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=80115
Criticism is welcome, as long as it's constructive. I realize that it's a little hard to see the details with such bad pictures. Also, you should know that I like it so much I'm terrified of making huge changes, or ones that would be difficult to make, that would cause it to crumble.
Hope you like it!

Don't worry about it, it's flattering. I always borrow design ideas here and there from other sources. For instance, I'm waiting on a Bricklink order of a bunch of low double slopes to imitate this roof idea:

Also, my Meduseld is a very toned-down version of Jon Furman's:

and I'm sure I'll spend a lot of time staring at his Bag End when it comes time for me to make that.
On your creation, I'd like to see more of the bone throne. Do you have any pics without the fig sitting in it? Also, what else do you have planned for the interior?

Your pictures are not that bad at all, Caleb. Predominant black MOC's hapen to be notoriously difficult to photograph. At least some of your pictures are in focus, so I could make out the details.
Your model has the right look and feel, and indeed it strongly reminds me of Orthanc. Maybe it was because you depleted your suply of black bricks, but I feel that the bacony part of the tower could need some more work. If you have parts left, maybe you could add some ornamentation or a pair of scary sculptures (orcs, dragons, gargoyles or those beasts statures on top of the skyscaper in the film 'Ghostbusters') at this level, one on each side.
I like the top part of the tower, well done.
With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.

It's sure worth a try, I think it might look interesting. It would still leave a lot of empty space around the 'pulpit'-like construction. Maybe a pair of black-and-golden dragons from sets #7419 'Dragon Fortress', split up by bricklink sellers?Sir Smittens wrote:I haven't thought about the balcony in a while, but now that you bring it up, I'll add a skeleton head to each side of the fence-part. It seems like that would look cool, with the two small white parts standing out against all the black.
With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.

So, even though it took a while, I have some more pics of the bone chair, slightly grainy, and the second one a little blurry.
