Collectible Minifigs Series 5

Post by Username »

Collage via Kevin1990/Eurobricks (I am assuming this is fair game since its from the same source as Kingdoms 2011):

LOVE:
Dwarf - Only have 1 black beard, so I'd love to have a few more. Shield pattern looks cool and hope it has a printed torso
Gladiator - Cool new sword and helmet.
Cavegirl - Only have 1 caveman club from series 1, so I am glad to get more and in a different color. Torso and legs look cool for fantasy barbarian or amazon warrior.
Gozilla Guy - Just too cool. Now I can MOC a battle between Godzilla and King Kong (Gorilla Guy from Series 3)!

Exactly what is the symbol on the Dwarf's shield???
Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven’t seen the back of us yet
We’ll fight as long as we live

In another picture it looks like a demon/dragon face.

I thought you could have the lizard guy fighting Spiderman, since The Lizard is a known Spiderman bad guy.

More awesome goodness. That clown looks really evil - perfect as a henchman for the Joker. I can imagine the graduate will be in high demand to make gifts to graduating seniors. My favorite might be the buckingham palace guard. One of my suggested themes long ago was to make 'world cultures' sets, with large sets like the big Eiffel Tower and Taj Majal sets, and then small minifig sets. These collectible lines are giving us lots of parts that would go into a cultures line, like the Buckingham Palace guard, the hula girl, the sumo guy etc etc etc.

I suspect TLC is using the collectible line to try out a lot of fan suggestions - revived Wild West, Greek/Roman, all the sporting characters - that they're not sure would work as actual sets.

Now, to these figs: the Dwarf is the immediate must-have-lots. I also like the looks of Sherlock and the gangster (is that a violin case he's holding?), even if the later is pretty much identical to Lao Che's goons in the 7682 Shanghai Chase. Gladiator looks really neat, the Cavewoman and Lizard(-suit?) man are both good followups to the Caveman and Gorilla-suit man, and more Adventurer-types, like the Jane Goodall type, are always welcome. Plus, monkey!

The rest I'm pretty neutral towards, although I note that the clown includes green stubbies, first time we've seen them. The Eskimo and Lumberjack (far right, third row)might have some useful parts, though. And I'm interested to find out whether the boxer's gloves fit over minifig hands or replace them.

This looks to be the weakest series in the Collectible's sets. The new faces are always exciting for me though. There are a few interesting pieces.

Hmm...The gladiator could be of some use alongside some of the Spartans. I see a whole new style of castle emerging! I can't wait to see what people do with them.

You know...collection five...I am not even done completing my series THREE. It gets really difficult to get all worked up and excited about things that are two series ahead of where I am currently.

And in all honesty, the pictures like this for all the previous series really didn't do the figs justice. These photos are bad quality also.

I agree. It's just too many epic new parts in a too short time. I can't even find series three in some store nearby.
Apart from that, series five looks awesome!

Edit: After seeing that lumberjack, i just can't stop thinking of the quote: "Heeere's Johnny" :tasty:
I predict a great increase of Shining-MOCs!

I believe the images actually come from the last YouTube video at this site: http://www.spieletest.at/bericht.php?ID=865, and that somebody just took a screen shot of them.

Indeed!

I think they could slow the pace a bit and improve the distribution. Series 2 is the only one I've ever seen on a store shelf locally, and I check quite frequently.

I still need to collect Series 1 and 4, and I'm stressed rather than excited to hear about Series 5.

Yes, I would agree as well. It would be nice to have a chance to get them locally as opposed to getting them from Bricklink.
