My return

Post by Jansen »

Hello everybody! Well, I know this is the Castle MOCs forum so I won't spend too much time explaining myself, but I would like to give a story relating how this creation came to pass, so I guess this post will be a combo of my creation and my announcements. As some of you may remember, I used to be on these forums night and day like a fiend. I was nutso crazy into LEGOs. That all changed as I got into highschool. Right before ninth grade I went to the Brickfair convention in DC (2008). When I got back, I began to build what was meant to be my biggest castle yet. I started and got about a third of the way done by Christmas. At this point I became involved with theatre and music. I joined a folk band and performed in my school's musical. I realized that this was my calling, and I stopped building LEGOs. I still loved them and to this day do not regret any cent or second I spent on them. My castle was not to be touched for years after this. By a fluke, I happened upon CC again right before Christmas 2010, two years after stopped. The Colossal Castle contest was going on and I got into a fever because I thought that maybe I could enter and win. So I worked like a nutcase for about a month and finished the thing at 1 'o clock in the morning New Year's, one hour after the contest ended. I did not touch the castle until today. I decided to make my return back into LEGO after yet another year of a Dark Age, so I finally photographed it today. Here is the folder when modded, three years of dust: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=498562

I will say one last thing. I am not out of my Dark Age yet. I would like to be able to tell you all that I am in fact going to start building again, but I really only have one project planned after this. With that, I bid you adieu.

Very nice! I like the tudor sections and the addition of the wharf. The whole castle is great!

Even though I never knew you, I hope this Moc was worth the time to build it, even if there was a two year break. It was well worth my time to see it.

Nice job. Looks terrific! I especially like the dragon on the roof.

Thank you to all four of you, I appreciate the warmth of your responses. It's seems so strange to come back here and see all of these new faces (new to me at least). It makes this 17-year old feel like a geezer. And AK_Brickster, I'm glad you like the dragon. To be honest, that is really the only innovative part of the creation. The rest is basically me trying to build like DNL. Speaking of him, is he still on these forums?

Great moc Jensen, you're 1 year older than me, but at the same time you build X5 better. And yes, DNL is still on these Forums. He joined the LCC a short while back.

Great creation, and happy building! I agree with people here that dragon skeleton is one amazing piece of detail. It's unhealthy to invest all of your time in 1 thing and push others things you like to the side, don't give up on any of your hobbies
