to the cowering noble behind him.
"I will do that immediately, captain." Said the cowering noble.
"Guards keep them back. Longtooth, come with me boy." Captain Song shouted over the yelling of the mob, to the guards and his white wolf. As he followed the noble back into the palace.

Seems to be quite a large contingent of elves who are part of the mob. I take it that they are concerned about the eroding relationship with their homeland to the south?

Nope, the elves are just travelers that stopped by to see what the commotion was, and them being a fun loving, rowdy bunch, decided to join in.
