'Retro Style' Castle MOCs.

I've been enjoying Bricklink's Stud.io digital desginer program recently, due to limited brickbuilding time, and the wider variety of options it offers beyond my personal collection lego collection. I've been mainly sticking to 'classic style' builds as this my current lego interest.

First up a digital recreation of a Forestman style MOC I'd actually made in real life - 'Forest Ambush'.

I've got a few more in the works, but I find it's a case of balancing the classic style without 'over-MOCing' it.

I'm always a fan of MOCs that look like they could of been sets. These are very well done. I especially like the Forestmen one. great use of those black tower parts!

These are excellent. While my MOCs these days tend to be larger, I favor a simpler build style more in line with sets than the highly detailed build styles many MOC builders use today, so seeing "classic" builds that could have been sets is much appreciated.

Beautiful! What I love about these is that I could make them in the brick. Often I see digital models use parts in colours that don't exist which is fine but I always appreciate it when they use actual produced parts.

Also these are just great little moc that (as others have said) would fit right in with the classic sets.

Continuing my 're-obsession' with all things pre-2000 castle, that the current lack of castle has drawn me back to (if that makes any sense).

The Black Wolf Inn (aka Wolfpack Tavern) where the Wolfpack meet in secret (?) to plot and count their loot. Where a hog is always roasting and there's a secret escape route through the fireplace(?!!) should the sheriff's men come searching

Well done! The classic style is very clear, but it's actually quite subtly advanced from actual classic sets.

I'm really liking the placement of the balcony/landing, which looks good in closed mode, but completely ties the open mode together. It makes open mode a fully integrated design rather than just a way to play with the interior (though, of course, it has that functionality too).

I have to agree with Formendacil, the hinge placement looks incredibly well thought out and fitting no matter the orientation.
Would absolutely love to have this as a playset

Really enjoy challenging myself on this one. I was looking through 80s/90s sets for techniques and inspiration for castle builds and stumbled upon Dolphin Point (https://brickset.com/sets/6414-1/Dolphin-Point) which I thought was a fun idea for a castle set. I had started in grey but the stairs only come in a limited selection of colours, and felt they were instrisic to maintaining the design so switched to black, which then led me to the Majisto/dragon knights theme.

I'm late discovering this thread but these are fantastic. I like how despite being small sets, each one seems to have a variety of activities going on. It seems like any single play-set ought to have enough to keep a kid's interest.

I agree with many of the opinions already expressed. There are plenty of impressive MOCs, but dumping a bucket of bricks to build a wall... That's not how I saw things when I looked at the catalog at the time.
Beyond the constraints of connections, legal or not.. It's not so easy to find ideas and give them form with the same simplicity. I sincerely salute this work which achieves this.
