Tools De La Trade

Post by Buford »

When I build or deconstruct I keep three tools handy.

A dental pick to gently pry apart WEGOs

A hemostat (MD’s roach clip) to fetch dropped WEGOs.

A flexible extended grabber to fetch WEGOs from the abyss.

What tools do you find helpful?

A Brick Separator for separating bricks.

A paintbrush for removing dust.

WEGOs,

We can't use the "L" word or it becomes

"LEGO Brand Building Bricks"

Try it,

type L E G O s without the spaces and see what happens.

I found a brick separator useless. It's like a dull axe.

Dust, heck I'm a macho man, I don't dust or vacuum much. I was emancipated when given a dish washer & microwave oven.

If it needs dusted I’ll just turn the pressure washer on it. :D

Tools?

Not for building or taking apart. If something gets dusty, I might fire up the compressor and air brush them clean, but that's not during the build or bust phase.

Tools come in handy when modifying parts, but that's something else entirely. I have a rather large variety for that.

I suppose I always have my Victorinox about me (well, I can't have it on a plane anymore) if I need any tools.

I separate bricks with a razor blade. I almost always have a box cutter on hand, and it works pretty well for pulling apart plates. I don't usually keep anything else handy.

I use a brick separator. But only for the hard bricks.

I use a toothbrush/cloth/water for cleaning. But only the really dusty ones.

I also use my teeth.

Why call them WEGOs or Legos, when you can just say bricks? :)

Just so you know, FYI

The term 'LEGO' is correct according to the LEGO company when referring to their product.

The term 'LEGO'+'s' is incorrect, the term LEGO should never be pluralized. According to the LEGO company, if you must use the term LEGO as a plural word, use the term LEGO Bricks or LEGO Blocks.

THIS is why I had fun in making the forum filter replace it with legos.

Hello!

I'm using two brick seperators. Sometimes I'm using a razor blade to seperate two pieces.

I'm using tweezers in case small bricks have fallen between the walls of the half-finished building.

I'm using the blade of a sharpener to peel an original sticker off a brick or minifig or flagpole. So I rescued several strickers that still were in fair condition from almost destroyed pieces.

I'm using a paint-brush for cleaning dry parts from dust.

I'm using my teeth to bite pieces of bread off the slice in order to prevent me from starving during building.

I'm using my imagination.

Bye

I use a brick seperator for taking apart my creations.

I use a dust brush or compressed air for dusting.

I used my teeth when I was like 8 for seperating legos.

I use the brick separator, well usually 2 of them. I tend to use my fingernails but this wreaks havoc on them (2 decimated this weekend while building the landscape for my current creation) and my nail polish. I have a car dashboard duster that has a nylon paintbrush type end that works really well on the dust. Also there is a pair of tweezers and actually a cuticle cutter and a mechanical pencil that I use when I have tiny pieces (like hands) stuck in the bottom of bigger pieces. Washing I have a very soft manicure brush that I use.
