Hi all,
I've been looking through pictures from LEGOworld, the largest LEGO fest in the world, last week in the Netherlands. I don't see a lot of castle-related stuff (or perhaps this is a reflection of the picture takers' preferences), but here's what I find. I don't know who any of these builders are.
Dragon sculptures:

it just tends mostly towards Town and Space creations.

Okay, WOWs all around.
That Castle really takes the cake for me. Not so much because of its design, as because of it's colouration, and the way it works for me.
The Majisto sculpture is awesome to. Change the clothes to grey, and VOILA! a Gandalf.
But it was the Fabuland castle that really, really, really captured my eye. There may be others like it out there, but this is the only one I've ever seen. It's looks perfectly Fabuland, with all those Fabu-window elements and figs, and yet has an interesting overall design.
Thanks for sharing.

Wow great stuff. The magisto was a astouding! the way the did his face and beard was ingenious. The Fabuland Castle was great. They did a good job on making that castle look like it was made for Fabuland people (which it was). The dragons were rather boring, Sava's could beat em flat.

The temple is Aztec. That dual-top design existed in only one place, the city of Tenochtitlan, modern Mexico City. Though the builder seems to be trying to hint at jungle encroachment, never an issue in the Valley of Mexico at 7000 feet.
The big castle is very big indeed. The scale is awesome and so is the construction. But I just can't get my arms around the way the "mottled" look is attempted. For me, that just doesn't work. Mixing gray and bley is best as Kevin (Andravistia (sp?) showed us). This has been done before, and it just too busy. It comes out in an odd pixelated way. I love the keep design, and would like to see inside. Thanks again Bruce!

I like the concept behind the mottling on the big castle, but the colors just don't work. It looks like it is camoflage. While I understand they were going for a more natural look, the colors are too far apart for that, natural stone would not have that much variance in color. I have to agree with the Blue Knight that grey and bley may be the way to go for that look, perhaps with some dark grey accents thrown in.
