Castle Neglect

Post by TheMightyTwoAxe »

I know the topic has been done to death, but Lego really has to step away from themes like Harry Potter and focus on traditional themes like castle again. Lego's neglect of the castle theme has allowed smaller, legoesque, companies such as Megablocks to take control (at least for now) of the model castle building industry. If Lego doesn't do something to counteract the wave of new castle/dragon/whatever sets being released by Megablocks and other like companies, they are going to loose castle fans as customers. It's a serious issue and I hope that Lego does something about it before their neglect of castle fans causes castle fans to go look elsewhere for their building needs.

Maybe for America, but not in Europe. Megabloks is sold in very few places over here. In The Netherlands we can't get them at all (and that is no problem for me).

I've seen the MB castlesets (in Belgium), and I must say they look neat, for example the silver boxes with special stuff in it. I think that is attracting kids (it was to me).

I agree, it would be a good think if a really cool new castle-line came out let's say around january 2004
But I don't think it is. I almost gave up on that.

Your right. You wish that LEGO brought out a castle line
in 2004.

Though anything is possible, I hope very much that LEGO
will bring out another LEGEND set for Castle, and another
MOC.

The chances are reasonably well for the LEGEND, less
so for the MOC, though anything is possible.

I wonder what is up for 2004. From rumours and from
the LEGO Magazine, I think there will be some new
Adventure sets (I assume there will be the lost fortress
of Kublai Khan or something related).

In May or June, Harry Potter III (Prisoner of Azkaban)
should be coming out in time for the June release.
We should see round 3 of some shops (finally some
Hogsmeade Shops), maybe a re-release of the Hagrids
Hut.

Unfortunately, I don't see a great need or demand for
another large-scale set, but we'll see whats in the
offering.

Apart from that, LEGO has done a great job of late to
release their secrets when they want to. Last fall,
there were some obvious revelations, especially on
the retail level. I was for the most part plan my purchases.

This year its impossible to do that because LEGO has
closed those information leaks, but that will mean in
my case to do a good job in budgeting my finances...

the other problem for me is the lack of space in my house
(in my room).... I am already reaching critical mass in
my room with all the sets I have in there....but that is
a seperate issue...
