Z-plan Tower House

Post by Felix »

Howdy! I've finished the main structure of a tower house I've been working on for a while.

There is still a lot of detailing to be done, but I'm a bit exhausted with this for now. I'll likely shelf this for a bit and build some other stuff.

PLMKWYT- I'm open to criticism. I may not incorporate the changes suggested, but they always help for the next build.

This reminds me of DARKspawns stuff a little bit, but with a black overall color. Nicely down. I like causeway leading to the top. Maybe some more landscaping.

The SNOT arched windows are a very nice touch. Care to share some detail photos of how you did it?

This is absolutely stunning. The outside has a very neat look to it and the architecture makes it look very strong. The interiors are well done as well though I would like to see some more furniture inside. Excellent job! This is on my top ten favorite Mocs.

Great MOC Felix!!! The overall shape is very nice, but also quite functional. Impressive set-up inside too! The color combo was done tastefully, and I can't wait for the rest of your "detailing."

Hi Felix,

I really like the black/grey contrast of your walls, the corbels under the battlements, and the red roof peaks. Your idea of removable floors is very clever. I will have to use that sometime.

Excellent. I'm lovin' how even though it's a black castle, it doesn't look evil. Good job all around, it's a nice 'n tall creation.

It's looking good, Felix. I really like the way you did the crenalations, with them sloping out at the bottom, and then back iward at the top.

A very nice looking tower you got here.

The exterior is excellent. The color combonation is superb! Very nice overall shape to this MOC. ...It does kinda look like something Darkspawn would make, shape-wise...

The interior is great as well. The removable floors are nice. I really like the wizard's room. Great job there.

Great moc. the color sceme works really well. The battlements are neat. The interior of the stair tower just needs some more stuff. Great work

Very good job! I really like the black, gray, and red color scheme. You use slopes very effectively - I especially like the effect of the inverted slopes under the roof. This is a very unique MOC with a tall, clearcut design. It has the feeling of a cathedral because of its tall, narrow construction.

One pick: the trees. They look to uniform and pretty spindly. I'm not a fan of the lance construction technique. In some cases it works, but it makes the trees to small and insignificant beside your towering structure. Can't wait for more interior detailing. I really like the removable floors.

Great stuff, I love tower houses ^_^ & this is one fine example. The fact that you refer to it as a Z plan tower house shows that you have done your research too ;)

As I said on Flickr I am not a big fan of the black / grey combo, but it is tastefully done here & even adds to the overall effect.

I think the reason why this may look similar to my work is because Felix has drawn his inspiration from the same material I do - history - & then like me, romanticised it :)

Well done

This is really great, Felix. I'm not really in the mood to review anything, but I'll just say that the walls and the design and the interiors are excellent.
