This is an old Lego castle that I made. Since I am new to Brickdshelf I do not know how to make my folders public yet. I would like advice for my future castles to be given here. Here is the link anyways:
Hey SK94, you gotta wait for your folder to be moderated before it will be available to the public. In the mean time you can right click your mouse over an image and select "copy image location" and paste it into this thread as deeplinks. Look forward to seeing your castle.
It looks pretty good, but could definately use some work. One thing that I don't like is the flat, thin walls. I do, however, like the tower, and the way you have put the swinging doors into it, to see inside.

Battling with college to try and prevent the dark age.
Okay, thanks for the advice. I'll try to fix that in my other MOCs. I also don't like the way my blacksmith and fletching house have entirely white and black bricks, instead of a Tudor-style-look. I'll try to fix that in my next castle MOC, then.

Hey first of all nice layout I like that.
One thing I don't like is the gate, in my opinion if you add a portcullis, make a taller gatehouse so that when the portcullis is raised it's still inside the gatehouse, and not just standing up above it. Just my two cents
And yep I agree a tudored look would look sweet on the blacksmith and fletching house, plus it's more fun to make!
Don't create a poll for these sorts of things. You open yourself up to being potentially wounded by the opinions of others. Look for the positive in your work, and ask others to do the same. Instead of asking whether something is "good" (which is largely subjective to begin with), how about asking for suggestions instead?
If you try and quantify your work as being "good" or "bad", your going to end up with some hurt feelings, regardless of how good your MOC actually is. Not everybody is considerate, and many may choose to vote negatively and leave no comments. There are better ways to look for feedback.

Which is why i didn't vote.
Your castle is fine, you just need to build more often and watch how others build. Ask when you want to see how to do a technique.
Good start.
Okay thanks for the advice and compliments. I won't use a poll for my next few MOCs, then. This is my first castle, but I have another one on Brickshelf. Here is the link:
Yes, agreed on not using a poll. It isn't a bad castle start. But it definitely isn't finished yet. I too like the layout and where it's going. It just needs to get going. A porticullis is a definite start and shouldn't be too difficult. After that, beef up the walls and work your way back.
The term "Hobby" allows you to explain to your relatives why you still play with toys...

It's like I said. There are alot of votes, but very few constructive comments. It's just too easy for petty people to leave a negative vote without standing up for themselves or their position.
I didn't vote either, for the same reasons that others have stated. Your castle has some good things going for it but it does need refining. Once thing that really jumped out at me was the lack of battlements on the front towers. Also the portcullis does look odd with nothing to hide it. It is a very good start though and your other castle is a definite improvement. I look forward to seeing what you are creating in a year from now!
