What did you build over Christmas?
Hey all,
Following in the footsteps of the other thread (what did you get for Christmas), I'm wondering what you did with your days off from work or school, MOC-wise. Me, I haven't done any actual building, but I've been getting up to date on moderating CCC entries and getting back to my blogs.

Apart from the Dwarves' Mine Lego set and a bunch of the knights from the Impulse set, I made a long road of bley 2x4s and dark red tiles, just to see how many I had. The result looked quite regal. It was a lot of fun to pick up the road and see how far it could curve without breaking. The week before Christmas, I made a tiny village for my peasants for all their hard work. It was quite poorly made, all prefabs and plates, but I needed somewhere for all my bad guys to raid.

I didn't have much time to do any building between my son, my family, and smoking the Christmas Turkey. I was able to build the castle set Ben sent me for Christmas though... that was a fun build. Thanks Ben!

I started some preliminary work on a new castle project. Its going to be my first castle moc based on an actual castle.
Over Christmas I completed the plan for the layout and got all the calculations and measurements (in studs & bricks), now all I have to do is build it!

So far I have been able to build the Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase, the Rebel Transport, and Batcopter: Super-Mega-Extra-Long-Title (SMELT). All three were nice. I am a sucker for LEGO biplanes. It is fun to drop the pumpkin bombs from scarecrow's plane. The other two sets were great for figs. The Rebel Transport is a nice vehicle with tan and bley slopes.

I'm trying to find IJ and Impulse sets, no luck yet...
I made a basis german minifig with brickbuilt legs, on wich other designs will be based and I made a design for a nazi flag wich I'll post when I get one of those IJ german minifigs! I still got to make some CCCV entries, I have some nice ideas wich have to get worked out fast...
and I will post pics of my design for a bridge with curved surface
lastly, I'm designing an articulated body on wich various accesoires can be snapped on and of to recreate various figures (legionnaire, hoplite, etc.) yet it is still in its designing form, I hope to post a prototype soon. The basic idea is that nothing on the body has to be replaced or removed to allow making a figure. In this way only the accesoires and not the complete body have to be redesigned for a new figure. It might be around 10-12 inch but I haven't got the scale down yet... The prototype will be a basic male body, but also a female body, larger male, shorter, fatter, etc. version will be designed.
kinda like stikfas, but even further (and without helmets etc. breaking every 2 seconds
)
TT

Unfortunately there was no way I could cart large quantities of Lego home for the break, so I most likely won't get working on my castle again till I go back to work in January! I had a set-back on it though cause I was unhappy with the cliff-face, so I've had to redo a lot. I'm a bit rusty on Lego building and I'm trying to get the cliff-face looking right while being solid enough to hinge open for the cave/dungeon inside under the castle proper.
If I can stay away from multiplayer Civilization IV long enough during the next week or two, I'll investigate the possibilities of the Holiday Train and Hobby Train, which I still have at home from some shopping in early December. I have a full oval of track now, after an initial miscalculation (I managed to initially purchase only a half-oval; I'd assumed that 8 curved sections made a circle).

I built nothing besides the sets I received.
Ideas for MOCs almost never come to me during holidays or when I have lots of free time. Only when I'm have school to do, when I'm working, or when I'm going on road trips.

For official sets, I built the Skeleton Tower, Crossbow Attack, the Skeleton Ship Attack and the Kings Castle Siege. I got the first two for Xmas and the latter two I've been saving until I had time to really enjoy the build. I also built the Indy Temple Escape and Motor Cycle Chase.
For MOCs, I built my interior CCCV entry, which I'll post pictures of soon.

Sheesh, when I get a new set, unless there's something mre important than Lego to do (Which there rarely is), I start putting it together right away.Donut wrote:I bought a Skeleton Tower before Thanksgiving, and have just begun building it.

I, having received no lego for Christmas, built the beginning of a small keep, much like IronGuard only better. Alas, I'm almost out of my gray, so I'll probably need to make a Bricklink order. Perhaps because I didn't get any for Christmas
