A bit of advice (needed).

This doesn't really fit under "Castle MOCs", but it's the closest I could get. Maybe. Anyways...

I my first job this summer, and am planning on expanding my LEGO collection. Here's what I've been thinking:

1. Bley, not grey. Bley is the way everything's going, and on its own, it looks better in my opinion.
2. 2x4s, not 1x2s. 2x4s are $.15 on LEGO's online PAB, and 1x2s are $.10, so 2x4s are more efficient (2x4s cover 4 studs of length with $.15, 1x2s cover 4 studs of length with $.20).

Now, my dilemma: What other pieces should I get to go along with 2x4s? Some arches, for sure, but what else? I have some black slopes I can use for roof, but I need something so my castles won't be just big bley walls with roofs.

One good point of advice (If you aren't going to do this already):

Go to Bricklink if you want to buy bley 1 x 2's or 1 x 4's. As you can see, this would save you a whole lotta' cash.

I think I can help because I just put together a couple carts of stuff for castles on bricklink for my brother.

1x1, 1x2, 1nd 1x4 bricks bley and/or dark bley for basic walls

all kinds or arches for windows, doors and details bley and/or dark bley

all kinds of slopes in bley and dark bley use the opposite color of the castle for rock

also a few green slopes for transition from rock to grass

blue/trans blue plates for water or blue/trans blue bricks for SNOT water

1x2 and 1x4 reddish brown log bricks for doors, bridges, etc.

reddish brown or dark orange plates for dirt

tan plates for sand

green bricks and plates for grass

flowers, trees, bushes, etc.

1x1 round bricks are great for details

I listed a lot just to give you an idea of what you can use for castles. I don't know how advanced or dedicated you are so I can't tell you what to buy. Only you can know that. To get a great idea of what pieces you can and do use for castles I would reccomend taking a look at RebelRock and DARKspawn's creations.

That, the reverse version, the half version, and the version with only one hole in the bottom, what's that called? That anti-stud? Anyway, just about any sort of these pieces are usefull.
