Clerestory Keep

Post by Jim »

Howdy -

I have been away for awhile, but I finally got back to building with the castle MOC below. I bought a bunch of 2x3 Modified Plates with Hole, and thought that these pieces should be good for roofing. I don't know how many folks have already done this, but I hadn't seen any, so I started building. I tried a few different styles and settled on:

That looks really nice! I haven't seen that done before. (And welcome back from your brief away time.)

The details and layout are both excellently done. Also props for acquiring sand green slopes...

The roof is of course great, but other things that stood out to me are the brown tuder building, the tree and the fountain.
But the whole thing is really well built.

I love the windows and the roof. I don't want to know how long it took you to get all of those pieces for the main roof. Great MOC overall.

Wow i cant believe i missed this. SO good. The details!...where to begin...

Roof- I love the curved shingles. very nice!
Birds- The ones built into the window frames. Are the tails cut?
Arrow slits- By far my favorite part.
You wonder why I'm not afraid?

There is no blade

Howdy -

I am glad that yall liked the MOC. I purchased the modified plates from the local LEGO Store Pick-a-Brick, so I got them all at once. When I saw them, I thought that they would make I nice roof, but it took me awhile to make it work.

The tails on the birds are, alas, cut. I got many of these birds from discontinued, half price Harry Potter sets a few year ago, so I don't mind sacrificing a few. The arrow slits use the 1 x 2/3 "cheese" slopes. Besides the stained glass windows, this is my favorite use for them. Both the parapets and the towers use the same arrow-slit design.

I am re-using the tall tower with some additional Tudor style buildings for Community Window display in our local LEGO store, so I will try to remember to bring my camera and post some pics.
