LEGO, please DO NOT make battery-operated Castle Minifigs!

Post by Pacificus »

From the new Jedi minifigs to the town minifig with the flashlight, (it is obvious to many) that battery-operated minifigures are the antithesis of the whole point to LEGO.

How might LEGO use the battery figs in a Castle theme? Well, the lighting concept could be used for torchbearers or wizards. (Again, this would be bad.) As I jokingly mentioned in other threads, pressing down a minifig's head could might be used to make the minifig "say something." A soldier could be made to call out battle cries or whatever. (Again, this would not be a good idea.)

Hopefully, this will be read by all as a pre-emptive strike against battery-powered minifigures and not a form of reverse-psychology in favor (shudder!) of them.

Yes, don't go giving TLG ideas in making new battery operated minifigs!

*Shudder*

I've never seen or touched a Battery fig for real yet. And I hope I never get the chance. I believe TLG made these figs for the "action" thing.

*Sigh*

Let's hope we never see LEGO Vikings that say; AARRGGHH!

Capital One will team up with LEGO to make the Vikings ask, "What's in your wallet?" (In the year 2000, in the year 2000!)

Actually, I've been comtemplating getting a battery fig for the very reason of converting it into a wizard/witch.

I don´t see what would be so freaking terrible with batteryfigs? Sure they are a bit stupid but it´d actually be quite cool with some fig for a wizard for example.

If Lego makes these vile creations you speak of, I shall buy tons of them just so I can burn them, MWAHAHAHA!
I really hope Lego does not make them, though; it will be another step in Lego's degradation, which began in the late 1990's.

Well, since they're already out there, I suppose the best thing to do is try and make use of them.

But I am fully in the camp against the continued introduction of light-up figs, or figs of any battery-powered nature.

If you can't take them apart, they lose half of what makes them a fig.

Of course! Viking keychain minifigs! Now that should be a good idea to give Lego. :D

Exactly.
I must say, if Lego insists on the continued production of Light-up figs, they should not have the 'try me!' option in the box. The batteries can't be easily replaced and kids in the store 'try' sets they aren't going to buy.

Actually, despite of what I said earlier, I've often thought that it would be good if minifigs could be mobile and could interact with one other. I support this idea only providing the appearance of the figs doesn't not alter significantly.

Oh D`oh speaking figs would be another hard strike against creativity and imagination...

when i played, i liked to give my figs a and individual characteristic voice which have mainly been made up by my imagination. I think, that that is one big and important part in a child`s play.

by the way: I was often inspired by monumental and sometimes movies which were set in the legends around King Arthur and the Knights of The Round Table.

Are batteries all that bad?

Post by garraofthesand »

I do say that batteries are not classic legos, but are they all bad? I mean having a yelling minifig would really help with lego movies. And the lightup wand would help with lightup effects. Overall, the best idea i can think of is a light up ghost  The worst is a light up jelly bean sword
Time to go nighty night mister west.
