Savages UPDATED: 070106

These are not overly customized, I just "improved" the helmets to make them fit better. If they resemble something in real history it would probably be some kind of Celtic warriors, not that it matters as my story is set in a fantasy world anyway....

Tell me what you think.

(Sorry for the quality of the pic.... OK, I like darkness but a ray of sunlight every now and then to take a pic would be nice :P)

EDIT: Finally updated with some nifty stickers.

Those work quite nicely. I like the red and white islander face and the native American face better than I do the white islander face. For some reason it reminds me of a mime.

That is an interesting structure they're on too. You could make something really cool with it.

Good work.

Thanks

I would have used the native american faces for everyone if I would have had enough of them but I had to use some islanders.

And about the structure, I just constructed it in a rush to be able to display them on two levels so that you could see everyone and the shields. But maybe I´ll do something about it...

I did pretty many changes in arms, torsos, weapons etc.... and before all the heads are clearly not usual vikings ;)

Nice figs, but this goes to MOCs, there are no customizing done here that is not purist.

Nice to see someone use the native heads, while the red/white islander head goes to my Royal Knights' highlanders & berserkers (theyre kind of a mix of celts and reinassance), the other heads just lie around doing nothing.

The helmets are customized. See this thread.

It's not that hard to do with a Dremel. Just grind down the interior socket in the helmet. Now, my advice is to only cut it down until the bottom of the nasal comes down halfway between the bottom of the eyes and the mouth. That simultaneously makes it look better AND makes it fit tighter.
I didn´t do a face helm, just grinded down the sockets to make them sit lower on the head.

Oh, I see. However, there were no pictures that indicated this. ;)

Looks great keep up the work. I have to admit i didnt see any real customizing till you pointed out what you did. Therefore you did a great job. Whenever I customize you generally can tell right away=(

Go here:

I think it is considered off-topic if you dont give feedback. ;)

This is actually a quite good idea for removing those redicilious noses, too bad its the only helm they fit with for this role I think, flares look a little too well-organized, perhaps nice in smaller numbers but not massed I think.

Although I'm not the biggest fan of the "mime's face" (the white face with red dots) in this setting, the others work very well here, and it really does look like a celtic sort of warrior group. I didn't notice the customization (the fact that I have no vikings doesn't help), but I think the end look is nice.

So these are in your story huh? I'll be very intersted to see how they fit in. ;-)
Knight Templar
n. pl. Knights Templars or Knights Templar
1.A member of an order of knights founded about 1118 to protect pilgrims in the Holy Land during the Second Crusade.

Well, I don´t actually care if celts had horned helmets or not... First off these aren´t historical in any way. And secondly I just think the horns look incredibly ugly...

Not too long left now.... just need to get my hands on some sets I should have gotten for Christmas....
