Names of two 2006 Viking sets

Post by sam89 »

I found the names of two Vikings sets on this French website:

http://www.le-lutin-rouge.com/achat/ind ... ?catid=143

Translated, they are roughly:

7020 Army of Vikings and Heavy Artillery Carriage
7021 Vikings' Double Catapult against the Ofnir Dragon

Both will be released in September 2006.

Army of Vikings sounds good and the prices aren't bad either. Your link has some issues but I was able to find them. Here is a working link: http://www.le-lutin-rouge.com/achat/index.php?catid=143

Army of Vikings you say? Sounds good, but TLG easily disappoints. :(
Heavy Artillery Carriage
Sounds like another battle wagon to me.

Great, names but no pics..... *sigh*

I reckon that "army" might only have 6 minifigs with a bunch of siege weapons (catapults, balistas) all for fighting those evil dragons....

Yeah, but hopefully we get some other stuff too with that set (ballistas, battering ram), but then, what use does a battering ram have against a dragon...
Probably no impressive siege engines, but a larger amount of figs.

I'm also getting my hopes up by the name "Viking Army" - although it is true that LEGO can dissapoint us with great skill, I can't help but get excited upon hearing this... we have, afterall, been asking for army builders for awhile... cross your fingers...

I'm actually glad they are not coming out for awhile - if they were coming out anytime soon I'd get even further behind! I just got back to the States and have been on a LEGO buying frenzy, but still haven't bought all of the vikings.
Knight Templar
n. pl. Knights Templars or Knights Templar
1.A member of an order of knights founded about 1118 to protect pilgrims in the Holy Land during the Second Crusade.

Now i'm not very good at converting euros to dollars, but I think the Viking Army is about a $20 set and Ofnir is a $35 set. Correct me if i'm wrong. I would assume these are not all the sets, as I predict there will be a $5 set and a big $70-100 set.

If you remember the second year of KK2 there were only 2 sets that summer. These were the Knight's Castle Wall and Vladek's Siege Engine

So it is very realistic that there will only be 2 new Viking sets and then possibly a new lineup in late 2006 or early 2007.

Wasn't Knight's Kingdom II first released in the summer of 2004? I seem to recall that it didn't actually hit the shelves until June. 8799 and 8800 were simply late releases that were sold exclusively through Toys R Us (and online).

Still, I suspect that this will be a small year for the Vikings line. With so many other products coming to market, LEGO may not want to invest in too many new sets.

Overall, I'm excited for 2005. 7020, Army of Vikings and Heavy Artillery Carriage sounds suspiciously like a minifig pack. And when you consider the earlier set listing for KKII, 8813 and Battle at the Pass, it looks like LEGO may finally be providing a healthy dose of soldiers for these lines.

Things are looking good...

Later.

Army! Army! Army!...

I hope this fills the void most of us feels is there. Personally I wouldn't want an army of these fellows http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=vik006 but the set should contain a good mix.

The torso on this guy is my favourite of the line http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=vik003

Here's hoping :)

a friend was at the British Toy Fair today. They weren't allowed to take photos unfortunately but there may be some scans from the trade catalogues appearing very soon.
I asked him if the one viking set was a minifig pack -
No, not really ... the sets are 7020 "Viking Army Artillery Wagon" & 7021 "Viking Double Catapult vs. the Armoured Ofnir Dragon".

7020 is almost a minifig pack; it's a mid-sized set, but has 7 minifigs, plus a wagon (that the figs 'drag') that fires 10 of those bolts that the larger ship carries.
so there we go
