Please help with towers

Post by kelderic »

Greetings. I am in need of some advice concerning my WIP castle. I am creating two towers. They are eight by eight, with thin walls, and so six by six on the inside. My problem is that I don't know what to put in them. Everything seems too big to fit.

Picture

They connect to a keep...

Picture

...but the bottom of the tower is lower than the floor of the keep.

Thanks.

Two things jumped into my mind. Storerooms or prison cells. You could pile up barrels, crates, and such things and they would look awesome as storerooms. Or you could chain some poor soul to the walls and call it a prison.

My 2 cents,
Josh

PS. Another thought...it could be a mews. Put some birds in there and its where the lord keeps his falcons and such.
AFOL and his money are easily parted.

Bells?

Post by DaveOhare01 »

You know -- with towers like that -- you could add to the height and turn them into pretty nifty bell towers! Of course, your keep may become more of a fortified abby, but that's cool too!

Maybe you have them elsewhere but they would be perfect for a staircase. As josh said storerooms would also work well

Thanks guys.

Josh
I was considering puting barrels in, but with the difference in height, the door would open on the tops of the barrels. Stairs to get down take up half the space.

David
I had never even thought about bell towers. I will try it out and see howis works. Thanks.

I was going to use the Harry potter one, but it was to big, I have been trying to build one out of bricks, but I am, so far, unsuccessful.

This may be a bit late but how about a multi-person latrine? And if not, just have them use it to store food.

my two cents,

Why don't you just put arrow slits in them and leave them emty? :?

Anyways, I wanted to say that it looks great so far. You just might want to fix the red door on the keep, the hinge should face one way so you can bar the door and so that there is no gap. Keep it up! :D

I recommend a spiral stair in all of 'em which could lead to a small room with a bed and fore acessories. This room would have a wooden ladder conducting to a hole a ceiling which would lead to the tower's wooden-made rooftop, and there you have it, a simple watch tower!

The red door and the black hinge are just fillers until my order from Bricklink arrives. The final doors will be black, and the hinges llight grey.

I am just about finished putting in stairs, so I'll put some pictures up in a little bit.

Edit:

Here are some pictures of the stairs.

The people can go up or down.

There will be a door here.

What do you guys think?

Cool. I like the way you made the stairs. I hope to someday make a huge Castle like the one you are(from what it looks like in the background).

I have always admired these MOCs, and this one is no different.

I hope to someday get this one finished. I've been working on for almost 8 years now. These towers are one of the last parts though, so it should be soon.

Hmm... i like the storage room idea... maybe use a set of small ladders instead of stairs? (that way maximizing the space inside)

You could even put a 4x8 loft up top with a couple kegs :-P (i like castle drinking mocs!)

Anyways, just my two cents, look forward to seeing more pics when you have completed.

I see that the stair cases take up alot of room, so I would put some people traveling up and down the stairs, some barrels, maybe a rat or two... You get what I'm getting at. Maybe an armory and weaponry?

You decide. The stairs look a little blocky, but if the interiors around it look good, they fit right in. OH and maybe some tapestries?

Does Lego have a tapestry piece, or do you mean cloth?

Also, there will be people on the stairs once it is finished. I still have to re-do it with the correct colors, once I get them.

Barracks.

This is a perfect space for bunk beds for the troops. Two beds per room, and they hot bunk like in subs. Four troops per room. Cannon fodder doesn't need much space. :)
