Sedan Chair

Post by gambort »

Hi all, continuing my theme of the Seljuk era I present a sedan chair for the daughter of an Arabian Ambassador to the Seljuks. I took a bit more artistic license with this one.

It is carried by Eunuchs but is a pretty good way to travel as you can see from the comfy interior.

That is a great idea and an good build. I'm not sure what I think about the studs-in construction of the "door" flap, but overall it looks good.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your comment. The door flap is a carpet hanging so the studs in was an aesthetic choice to give the appearance of weave. The initial version was studs out but the studs in are much closer to what I wanted.

Now the optimal solution would allow me to articulate the carpet as well as having the pattern but I'm stumped as to how I can manage that in such a small space so I went for colour over shape.

This is a very nice sedan chair. I think the carpet is awesome.

Its very nice but some stuff could be greatly improved. Take the eunucs suits for example. There are some pirate torsos that would fit 'em perfectly. The silk mantle that covers the sedan could have also been made differently and nicely.

Still its a very original creation.

I agree that the eunuchs could do with some extra spice. I'm not at all familiar with pirate torsos so I might have to look into that. I tried browsing through the white torsos on BL but I wasn't comprehensive.

I'm quite happy with the sedan itself apart from the non-articulated carpets. I think that silk might be a little too gauche for what I'm trying to achieve here. Perhaps if you tell me how you were thinking of improving it I could be convinced but at the moment your comment is very vague and not at all helpful or convincing.

I like this one as well, but have you tried vent tiles (colored, of course) for the mantle?

I'm not sure which bit is the mantle? As a long-term addict of grille tiles (I think that's what you mean) I tried them on various parts but they didn't have the woven effect of plate bottoms. Too linear for my tastes on this.

Ah another non-euopean MOC! I'm loving it here!

I think my favorite detail in this MOC are the pillows and such inside the sedan. Well done again Tim.

Very nice! I really like the way you did it, using the 45* slopes. Also, I like the interior.

Fantastic! If you keep this up you will have a whole new custom faction ;) I don't know about the eunuchs' heads though ... if I were a eunuch I wouldn't be smiling ;) /jokes
