Princess Rescue

Princess Rescue

Once up on a time there lived a brave prince and a sweet princess in a big strong castle. They where a happy couple.
One day the princess went out for a walk in the field to pick some pretty flowers. She enjoyed her walk in the open field so much, that she didn't see two normal looking man approach her. They looked like farmers or salesman.
All of a sudden both men drew a sword. Though, before she saw what they were up to, she was carried off. No one had seen anything from her since… or so they thought.
However, at the big wall of the castle a loyal knight had watched it all happen intensively. Immediately, he ran as fast he could to the king and the prince. Directly he tell told everything he had seen. “I’ll go right away to find her!” the prince shouted. He ran out of the throne room, straight to the stables. A few moments later he is was on his way to search for his princess.

The prince rode the whole day. In the evening came in a mountainous forest. Suddenly, the prince saw the glitter of something on the ground. He got off his horse and picked it up. It was the diamond ring he had given to his princess! Now he knew for sure he was on the right way. With new courage the prince proceeded his search through the dark forest. Thank goodness the moon was full and shone clear, so he could see something on his path.
When the moon hide itself behind the clouds, the prince had been forced to stop and get some rest.

After a short but refreshing sleep, he ate his food in a hurry and got on his horse to proceed his search.

Suddenly he heard voices and some noise further on the forest. The prince heard a sound of murmur too. He got of his horse and carefully walked in the direction of the sounds.
After a while he saw a wooden shed. Next to the shed stood a big pole and his dear beloved princess was tied up to it!
The prince got some closer and he saw two man carry tons and/of crates to a rowboat at the beach below.
Out of nothing the prince jumped out of the woods and attacked the both man. The two man were frightened to death when they suddenly saw the angry prince. One man directly ran away, the other one tried to defend himself, but it was a lost case already.
In no time both guys were tied up. Now the prince could release his lovely princess. With tears in her eyes she dropped in to the sweet strong arms of her beloved prince.

And they lived happily ever after.

The End.

The Hardships of a Warrior

When news of the Normans comes, the village makes to march- but there is no time to wait for the wounded and dying.
Thus Garulf, an englisc weapon-man, stays behind with the leg-wounded Hrafn, leader of the vikingr, tending the dead and dying.

These are the hardships of the warrior:

To see friends and comrades buried...

...to travel harshly in all weather...

...and to come to aid in battle when the battle is all but lost.

With the shield wall broken by Norman trickery, the English forces are slaughtered, caught on both sides by their foe. Elsewhere on the battlefield, King Harold is slain and brutalized, and the demoralized English forces are killed, or flee.
