Re: Pirates of the caribbean Lego?
I am hoping that the piece in question is a 2 piece as well. The one thing that is beneficial to having a license is that it brings people outside the hobby to at least spend some of their money on it when they would not have otherwise. I made mention of it to a non Lego fan and they became interested because it was POTC. Of course there are a lot of not so good things that come from that attention, but the potential for Lego to make a profit, thus ensuring a longer future for us fans is the real bonus. Not all licensing ideas are wise, but then again.....POTC Lego can provide pirate fans with some useful pieces.

Quite possibly perhaps.Ye Olde Republic wrote:Dan, you and I are seeing two different hats here. Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Re: Pirates of the caribbean Lego?
I can certainly see your point, Blue, but I think "a true pirate fan wants more" was a little strong, because he has a point too; it sounded like you thought your view should be accepted by him or he wasn't a true pirates fan. Your argument is a very well thought-out and well-written one, except for that last sentence. I am about as die-hard as any pirate fan out there, and I think this has the potential to be very good. Now, I know you are a mod, and I'm not trying to be disrespectful.Bluesecrets wrote:This is how I see it. A POTC line would be completely POTC driven, full of horrible creature people, which only are desired by a limited few. A classic pirate theme allows for creativity, more play and is far more useful than a licensed theme. In addition, it means we'll be limited to a Black Pearl ship, which might be nice, but it is not exactly a realistic pirate ship, or is it the only ship I want to see in a line. Pirates attack merchant and cargo ships, they do not attack military ships unless they are carrying a large amount of wealth. A true pirate fan wants more.I would prefer POTC over a non-licensed pirate theme. The recent pirate line was basically a rehash of the classic pirates,
not that there is anything wrong with that, I thought it was a good line. But I do think more variety would be nice to have for the
pirate theme, and POTC might be able to provide that, so we'll see what happens.
And further more, that head looks like the Toy Story heads, which are useless to me. Meh, I couldn't be less excited to see a LEGO line, and I am a big pirate fan.
That being said, I'm completely on the fence about this theme, although, I'm starting to have a feeling that sooner or later, Blue and me and everyone else will come to like it. I, personally, will probably use the potentially awesome parts for MOCs, despite the fact that I love the movies. If Jack's hat and hair is one piece, then I'm okay with it, although I hope it isn't. But, either way, look at all the awesome fig parts! We'll probably get powdered wigs for the first time, so I know many will like that, since that has always been a never-materialized wish for pirate fans. Another pro is those awesome bluecoats in the third film will probably be turned into figs. Bluecoats! Plus, I heard a large portion of the story in the fourth movie takes place in Louisiana's New Orleans, and that they are replacing the British with French. Whitecoats?

So, this theme might be awesome or just meh, but I have feeling it won't be bad.

Your argument that my statement that a true pirate fan wants more is based entirely on the wrong premise. You assumed INCORRECTLY that I was talking of ONLY the POTC line, but of course you missed the fact that I was discussing all pirate lines, wanting for more than just military ships, pirate ships, forts and deserted islands.I can certainly see your point, Blue, but I think "a true pirate fan wants more" was a little strong, because he has a point too; it sounded like you thought your view should be accepted by him or he wasn't a true pirates fan. I do not think it is wise for you to speak for other people and their opinions. That being said, I'm completely on the fence about this theme, although, I'm starting to have a feeling that sooner or later, Blue and me and everyone else will come to like it.

Re: Pirates of the caribbean Lego?
No, I understood you meant basically all of the pirate themes. I wasn't speaking for other people or their opinions, I was just trying to be positive and said something positive. I wasn't just talking to an individual,I was responding to your post, which is what the forums are for, and I was discussing the theme for three-quarters of the post. Plus, I agreed with you on the fact that we want more than just forts, military ships, etc, I did not miss it, I just wanted people to respect other people's opinions instead of accusing them of not being a fan. Plus, I see nothing wrong in being cautious when I said : "Now, I know you are a mod, and I'm not trying to be disrespectful." I was just trying to be polite.Bluesecrets wrote:Your argument that my statement that a true pirate fan wants more is based entirely on the wrong premise. I know right? 8 sets for one wave of a licensed theme (at this day and age?)?Elephant Knight wrote:Yay! Official date!

From 8 sets I'm thinking there will be probably something like a $10, $20, $30, $50, $80, $120-ish, one even more expensive, and then room for one more type sets (All in USD). Although these are just guesses.

I'm interested in all the new parts we'll see and hopefully some dark brown. For all you fleshy haters, send your parts to me.

Re: Pirates of the caribbean Lego?
I'd have to go back and check to be sure, but I'm pretty sure the first wave of Indy sets also had eight sets - four classic and four from the new film, each having a $10, $20, $40ish, and $90ish set. I'd be willing to bet we see a similar ratio here.
Anybody want to speculate as to set designs? The big ones will almost certainly be the ships - one will almost certainly be the Black Pearl, the other probably either the Interceptor or the antagonist ship from On Stranger Tides. I suspect we'll (eventually) see the waterwheel fight from Dead Man's Chest, too, though maybe not right away.
