Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (On Stranger Tides) is due for release in 2011. It seems reasonable that if Lego were to have acquired this license that it would start promoting this now, especially since it sounds like other teasers for the film are being released at Comic-Con.Tycho McKorley wrote:I'm really skeptical of this actually. PotC finished its trilogy years ago and I just don't think there's much interest in it now.
I believe the Jack Sparrow we see there is a very well-done custom fig.
A new POTC movie is scheduled to be released in 2011, its going to be in 3-D, like the movie Avatar.Tycho McKorley wrote:I'm really skeptical of this actually. This is how I see it. A POTC line would be completely POTC driven, full of horrible creature people, which only are desired by a limited few. A classic pirate theme allows for creativity, more play and is far more useful than a licensed theme. In addition, it means we'll be limited to a Black Pearl ship, which might be nice, but it is not exactly a realistic pirate ship, or is it the only ship I want to see in a line. Pirates attack merchant and cargo ships, they do not attack military ships unless they are carrying a large amount of wealth. A true pirate fan wants more.I would prefer POTC over a non-licensed pirate theme. The recent pirate line was basically a rehash of the classic pirates,
not that there is anything wrong with that, I thought it was a good line. But I do think more variety would be nice to have for the
pirate theme, and POTC might be able to provide that, so we'll see what happens.
