A small force of travelling crusaders are camped out at an oasis when suddenly, at dawn, they are ambushed by a marauding band of robbers. One crusader manages to arm and mount his horse. The others try to defend themselves and their camp on foot. It does not look good though. They are heavily outnumbered!
A beast powered battering ram that uses rear positioned steers to get the ram close to the gate. Then the men take over to operate the ram. The weapon is articulated in the back for those tight twisty approaches. There is plenty of positionable overhead cover to protect the steers, driver and the ram operators/crew.
