70400 Redesigned (Forest Ambush)

This is my redesign of the 2013 LEGO set number 70400 “Forest Ambush” using parts and techniques from the 1970s and 1980s. You will probably immediately notice, again, that the figs are NOT the yellow smileys as they should be for that time era. Well, I guess I will have to claim artistic liberty again. The figs are in the same groups, but earlier versions. One of the figs has a slightly Dark Forest look to him to reflect the name of the set. Also the dog is built in a similar manner to the old style of horses and other LEGO animals.

Border Guard Tower

High in the mountains of Csheg along the northern border of the Royal Kingdom sets the highlands watch tower, as it is often called. Far from any aid, the guards that stand watch here must rely on their own talents and ingenuity. Ever watchful, they protect the wild border and guard the rugged old bridge that serves as the only crossing for the roaring river between the two nations.

Digging Potatoes

Tormod and his nephew Uilleam had gone to the meadow to dig the mid-season potatoes. It wasn’t the best crop they had grown, but young Uilleam seemed to be enjoying the opportunity to be playing in the fresh dirt.

Duncan's Drunken Voyage

Duncan’s head was throbbing. He could have sworn that the waves were getting rougher and rougher. One wave in particular felt almost like he had hit something and nearly knocked him out of his vessel. “It’s a good thing no one else is out on these choppy waters,” he thought to himself as he gulped down another hearty swig of mead.

Fallen Brother Scene

The search for Kinlea was over when his body was found filled with arrows at the bottom of a shallow pit. His corpse lay among the dark mushrooms with branches, stones, and other debris that had fallen into the pit scattered round about it. His cousin Ilmor cried out in a mixture of anger and grief as what he had dreaded became reality. The others had all feared that Kinlea had been slain when he failed to return to the tower, but Ilmor had refused, still holding onto hope that his cousin was alive. Now that it was apparent that Kinlea had been murdered, all had the same question burning through their minds,

Forest March

The rebel forces had grown much stronger in the safety of the forest. Unfortunately, their numbers had attracted the attention of the Royal Kingdom. The rebel’s fortress proved ineffective against the pitch, torches, and superior numbers of the Royal Forces. The siege did not last long. The rebel forces fought valiantly, but in the end, all that was left of their force was scattered bits timber and ashes.

Horse Thieves

The Bull clan had been waiting for such an opportunity such as this, seizing their chance; they surrounded the unsuspecting Royal Kingdom guards while they rested among the ruins of an ancient fortress. These guards, outnumbered and now surrounded with so many pointed objects, had no choice but to watch helplessly as their armored mounts were taken from them. This would prove a valuable success for the Bull clan, especially considering recent losses. The Bulls sorely needed a larger cavalry if they were ever to have a hope for success with anything more than a few raids.

Perils of the Wild

Casserin had paid well for the best guards he could find to protect his goods. He was tired of being held up by the bandits that plague the land. “No mistakes this time, “ he thought to himself as he drove his wagon heavily laden with goods along the narrow path. It was the start of autumn, and a few of the trees were just beginning to turn. Casserin anticipated the high profits that the chilling months often brought as the cool breeze brushed his face. Suddenly, as he edged around a rocky outcropping that forced the road to bend, his team reared up. Casserin’s eyes widened in terror as he began to scream. He had heard the rumors, but never even in his worst nightmares had he ever imagined that he would one day face these creatures. They were surrounded.

Redesigned 6032 (Catapult Crusher)

This is my redesign of the 2000 LEGO set number 6032 “Catapult Crusher” using parts and techniques from the 1970s and 1980s. You will probably immediately notice that the fig is obviously NOT one of the yellow smileys as it should be for that time era. Well, I guess I will have to claim artistic liberty on that one. The fig is also loyal to the older dragon group as opposed to the bulls, which did not exist until about 2000.

Runaway Rubble Cart

Brennoff grasped desperately at the rubble cart’s handles as he exited the mouth of the mine. It was heading for the edge of the cliff. To make matters worse, the heavily guarded wagon of freshly mined jewels was beneath it. Brennoff gritted his teeth as the cart rolled over the edge and into the wagon below. The Royal guards scrambled to avoid being crushed. Brennoff hoped the damages wouldn’t end up coming out of his already meager wages.

The Unattended Torch

Though dusk was fast approaching, Sven was excited do finally be deep in the woods where he could hunt without fear of being caught by the authorities. After hurriedly setting up his heavy tent near a thick patch of sweet mushrooms, and gathering enough firewood to last the whole night, Sven lit his old torch. Just as he was about to start building his campfire, he stopped for a moment. Sven tilted his head to the side so that he could better listen with his keen ears. Something was rustling through the forest underbrush not far from him. Sven recognized these noises as the unmistakable scratching of a wild forest chicken. Quickly he set down the lit torch and grabbed his hunting bow and set out to find his dinner. The wild chicken was a quick and easy catch, as the simple birds are not very bright. Sven smiled widely as he carelessly strolled back to his camp quite pleased with his luck, but as he got closer, something seemed wrong. He wondered why the camp site looked so bright from his distance. Then, all at once, he remembered the torch he had left. His tent was on fire!

Winter Wheat

Not far from the village lies the humble farm of Olaf and his wife Ingrid. Together, they grow and mill their own grain, making just enough to get by. This winter had been especially bitter, and they had nearly exhausted their wood supply trying to keep their tiny home warm. Winter was nearing its end now though. Soon their winter wheat would begin to head out and harvest would before long, harvest would be upon them again.
