Colossal Contest Master Builder
Lenny & Ben E. 25 II 05
It should be no surprise that the Colossal Contest Master Builder for 2004 is
Pat Morgan
But the race was really close. Really, really close. Coming in at
second place is Sir Nelson. Pat beat Sir Nelson by just .2 points!!
In honor of Sir Nelson's achievement, he will be also be receiving a
prize (still to be determined).
Sir Nelson and Pat completely owned this contest. Pat entered a total
of fourteen MOCs, winning best Historical Customization with his
"Brother Padraig", while eight others were recognized as a honorary
mention. Sir Nelson entered ten MOCs, winning best Seige Weapon with
his "Warwulf" seige tower, while seven others were recognized as a
honorary mention. Between Pat and Sir Nelson, they were named 17
times on the winners page – which is an amazing 20% of all people
mentioned.
So an extra congratulations to Pat Morgan and Sir Nelson for such an
impressive array of creations this year! We are going to expect big
things from you two next year!
I'd also like to bring attention to everyone who qualified for the
Master Builder category. Each built at least one entry for seven
different categories – an impressive accomplishment. In no particular
order, the Master Builder runners up are:
Didde, Ed, Forester, Josh Wedin, Lord Mikal, Norro, Piotr Lomero
Rybak, Psu_Ericksen, RubberChickenKnight, Sir Bert, and Yaron Dori.
Congratulations to each of these excellent builders!

Cervena Lhota Castle
Bruce N. H. 22 II 05
Cervena Lhota Castle has a long history.
A fortress occupied this locations from the 12th or 13th century,
but in the 1500's it was rebuilt into a more stately chateau.
Over the next four centuries this castle changed hands with the rising and falling fortunes of various
Czech and Austrian noble families, and underwent several rebuilding projects.
Today, Cervena Lhota
is a national monument of the Czech Republic.
Peter Kucera's LEGO rendition
of Cervena Lhota uses a variety of techniques, such as a curved wall, a wall set at an odd angle,
and a SNOT window design.
Peter is a Czech LEGO fan who has been building since 1987.
He builds in a variety of themes and his MOCs can be found on his website,
ARTpeter.net,
or in his Brickshelf gallery.
In addition to his MOCs, his website has some great LEGO reference material,
including a fairly complete set of Czech-language catalogs since the mid-80's.
He is also a member of Kotsky.org, a Czech LEGO forum.

Petersfield UK Festette
James Stacey 1 II 05
On the 29th Jan, William Howard ran a small Fest in his hometown of Petersfield.
The castle display was a mix of Williams MOCs and those of mine,
and was a test of Williams Castle Wall System
(affectionately called the Castle Will System by the fest attendees).
It was more of a dry run for a future full sized fest so the display
wasn't as detailed as maybe it should.
Check out the lovely detailing on the market stalls though.
Discuss the mini-fest here.
