Bannockburn Monument
29 VI 14

Yesterday was the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn, a significant Scottish victory in their war of independence in which Robert the Bruce defeated the forces of Edward II of England. This MOC is about five years old, but I figured it was fitting to feature Cuahchic's rendition of this statue of Robert the Bruce that stands near the battle site. You can see this along with all of Cuahchic's other creations on Flickr and then discuss it, and the famous battle, in our forum.

CC Set Review: 79006 - The Council of Elrond
28 VI 14

Join the Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 79006 - The Council of Elrond.

Released in the 2013 wave of Tolkien sets, this set introduced the figures of Elrond (who had previously only been available in a promotional tie-in) and Arwen, along with Gimli and another Frodo. 79006 saw the introduction of the new gothic half-arch piece, and also had foliage elements in dark orange and lime green.

Dragon's Lair
20 VI 14

If you flipped through the 2014 Classic-Castle Calendar (still available, btw, you saw Sharon Vance's, aka Shaylegoluvr's, great Smaug mosaic. If you attended BrickWorld, or checked out photos of the show online, you saw a new mosaic done in a similar style. Sharon revisited the subject matter to come up with Dragon's Lair. See this, along with all of Sharon's other MOCs, in her Flickr stream and then discuss it in our forum.

Uktror
19 VI 14

I Scream Clone built Uktror as part of the Guilds of Historica. The Moruth Orcs have taken over an abandoned fortress on the outskirts of the kingdom of Abyssian to use as a base for their operations. If you think the castle looks vaguely familiar, you're right - this is ISC's homage/re-imagination of the original Yellow Castle 375. Check out this along with all of I Scream Clone's other MOCs on Flickr and then discuss it in our forum.

Iron Dragon
18 VI 14

The Iron Builder has been one of the most prominent drivers of amazing MOC building in the past couple of years. This competition sets up head-to-head matches between elite builders to come of with a month of creations based on a specific element. The current round pits Onosendai2600 against 6kyubi6, based on the new micro ball joint found in Mixels sets. Some of the creations include a micro castle, a giant sculpture of a mosquito, a video game, and this Iron Dragon by 6kyubi6. See this along with all of 6kyubi6's other MOCs on Flickr and then discuss it in our forum.

CC set review: 70806 - Castle Cavalry
17 VI 14

It's Taco Tuesday and everything is awesome, because the LEGO Movie comes out on DVD today. Let's celebrate with a movie-themed set review:

Join the Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 70806 - Castle Cavalry.

Castle Cavalry is part of the first wave of LEGO Movie sets, officially coming out at the start of this year. The set has two designs. The first, a more traditional castle set, has two soldiers (Sir Stackabrick and Gallant Guard)s guarding a gatehouse. Then, along with Sharon Shoehorn (of everyone's favorite sitcom), they rebuild the gatehouse into some sort of fighter jet/spaceship thing to fight off Lord Business and his Micromanagers.

By the way, Honey, where are my pants?

Ragoth attacks
16 VI 14

One of our newest forum members is Brick Burger, and he started off with a bang, sharing Ragoth attacks. See this along with all of Brick Burger's other MOCs on Flickr and the discuss it in our forum. Be sure to welcome him to Classic-Castle.

Fighting Among the Canals
13 VI 14

Gideon_83 built Fighting Among the Canals as part of the most recent Loreos local challenge in the Lands of Roawia. Check out this, along with all of Gideon's other MOCs, in his Flickr stream and then discuss it in our forum.

House and Stable
12 VI 14

David FNJ built this great house and stable as part of his story in the Lands of Mythron (a collaborative roleplay on MOCpages). See this along with all of his other MOCs in his Flickr stream and then discuss it in our forum.

Battle of the castle sets: King's vs Black Monarch's
10 VI 14

Two sets enter the arena, only one can emerge victorious! Set 6080, the King's Castle, versus 6085, the Black Monarch's Castle. Which castle set reigns supreme? Share your thoughts in our forum.

Nowhere to Run
9 VI 14

In the Lands of Rowia, the Lenfald faction is having a local challenge called the Wipeout. According to SergeantChipmunk44's entry, "Some of the remaining soldiers of the Queen have tried to hide themselves among the people of Lenfald. In this small Lenfel village, a disguised soldier of the Queen is discovered and trapped." There is Nowhere to Run. See this, along with Sergeant Chipmunk's other MOCs, on his Flickr stream and then discuss it in our forum.

Trivel Castle
4 VI 14

Felix recently presented Trivel Castle, the latest addition to his growing village. The castle is built with a modular design, so it can be easily changed or expanded, and much of it opens up to reveal furnished interiors. See this along with Felix' other work in his Flickr stream and then discuss it in our forum.

Battle at Skergat Pass
2 VI 14

"As soon as the scouts had reported to Glorfindel that a Black Spire army would be traveling through Skergat Pass, Glorfindel ordered his men to prepare for an ambush. The Mitgardian soldiers were soon concealed along the ridges on both sides of the ravine. Once the Black Spire army was well into the pass, Glorfindel signaled for the attack. Pouring down the sides of the ravine his men had both the advantages of surprise and the higher ground."

Isaac, who goes by Soccerkid6 at Classic-Castle, built the Battle at Skergat Pass as part of a challenge in the Guilds of Historica on Eurobricks. See this, along with all of Isaacs other MOCs, on his site BrickBuilt.org or in his Flickr stream and then discuss it in our forum.

Seed Part Challenge
1 VI 14

Try your hand at the June Seed Part challenge. Come up with a castle MOC that somehow incorporates the part of the month - the space air tanks - for fame and prizes. For complete details and entries, see this thread.
